What is the correct width of the plastichrome locking strip around the windscreen.

There are at least two sizes out there - 7/16"and 1/2"

Thanks in advance.

Don't know the size but you can get it from Rare Spares for $24.93 per windscreen, part no. RLS120, suits Capri, Cortina and Escort. Yesterford in Bayswater, Vic also carry the same item.

FoxyCapri - thanks, was already aware of Rare Spares, but they have two listed for Capri : RLS120 and RLS120C.  I have messaged them late yesterday to find out the difference.

InRodWeTrust - Fitting the glass takes maybe 15 mins for front or rear screen, fitting the bead without the fancy tool took me at least an hour each when I built the car up 7 years ago. I have a small amount of 7/16 left over and a new long strip of 1/2". I want to use the right one this time, whichever that is.

The current windscreen is not cracked or chipped, but the laminate is going off.  When the sun is low the laminate goes into panic mode - opaque*.  Not good whilst driving into the sun.

*With thanks to Douglas Adams and his Panic Mode Sunglasses.  (I think that is the right crediting of reference).

sometimes I think I could benefit from a Babelfish with some of the technical answers on  here..

I too have used the Rare spares chrome filler, only because I ordered a screen rubber from them.
I had Windscreens Obrien fit the new windscreen (thanks Shannon), and should have got them to fit the rear also.
On an old rubber, get the swear jar ready.

FYI - RareSpares responded with .......
Part RLS120 & RLS120C are exactly the same item. The part number for RLS120C rolls to RLS120 in our system.

I vaguely remember JR saying that the best one to use was the version for Toranas.
