Gday guys, I have a 79 mk2 2l. Fitted a zetec and now need to sort engine and ignition wiring. The starter had three wires going to it, the large positive connector and two red wires, one with a green tracer and one with a blue tracer. what are these for.  Also there is a pink wire with blue tracer and two plugs which went to the original coil., what were they for. Pls help, Peter.

Looking at my schematic....
 
Red / Lt Green is your ignition feed from the ignition switch to the starter motor, distributor, ballast resistor and decal solenoid.
 
Red /Lt Blue is from the ignition switch and should be the input to turn the starter motor.
 
Pink / Lt Blue goes to the distributor and the other goes to the tacho.
