Drive by Wire 😉

Had a chance to sort out the DBW arrangement with the Yaris pedal and VZ throttle body. After much "googling" I was able to confidently wire it all up and after a little fault finding it works a treat
I have removed the butterfly from the throttle body to fit a lever and allow it to drive the quad ITB's.

What and excellent solution paul
What ITB are you using? the engineer is happy with a tuneable ECU?

Hi Robbie
https://www.efihardware.com/products/12/throttle-body-pro-race-DCOE-sizes-45mm-to-50mm
I have the 45/43/40 which I hope will be OK for the Zetec. I'm looking for 185-200Hp and as the area of the Zetec inlet ports is pretty close to the 40mm I feel these should work. Time will tell......
My Engineer knows the plan so I sure as hell hope he's ok with it plus I'm sure it was stated on my modification paperwork along with all the other modifications.

Yes i myself have been snooping around the eft hardware site also.
I cant see why he wouldnt allow the ecu if the car sits the right emissions testing etc. this thing is really going to be next level when its done.

It’s the ability to prove it meets emissions which is the problem if I have to conform to the engine OEM requirements.

Hey Paul,
So when you are done as part of the registration process you need to get the car properly emissions tested to see if it is ok? I know Nukem in NSW went through this song/dance and got the his zetec across the line but I think he said it took 2 emissions test at $8-900 a pop.

Hi Lee.
At this point all that's required is a basic idle emissions test as stated on my letter of intent from Transport SA. Each is judged on a case by case basis hence each may be different depending on the actual conversion even within the same state - let alone across states.

Interesting. So when it comes time to dyno-ing the car do you have you to do anything to reign it in to make sure it will pass the test. Obviously the goal of authorities is to make sure you modified zetec is no worse than a standard one, correct?

All I’m doing is what my Engineer and the authorities require to pass the modifications.
