Got another set (well 3) of rims to make at least 2 of my 15x6 into 15x7. Two of rims (15x8) came with the required outer offset to give me 15x7 with a 12P offset. The other rim is a 15x9 so not much help on a standard Mk2 [:p]

So, I now have a pair of 15x6 (24P) and a pair of 15x7 (12P) which will run a 195/50 and a 205/50 respectively.

But, as they came I recon my 4x108 centres will bolt into the 8 inch rims and give me a 12P offset ( I think) so they might go on the rear if I can get another set of suitable outers for the front (to go from 15x6 to 15x7)

Anyway, here is a pic of the altered rims.

Do you still want the Simmons I have waiting for you?

Yes, I'll still have them unless you have another purchaser etc or you want to put them back on eBay?

One of the outer rim sections you have is decent isn't it?

Yes it is. I just don't want them sitting round any longer, been asked to get rid of some of my 'crap'

OK, been a while so I thought I'd post some progress.

Well, I have made a jig to attach to the car so that it can be rolled around the garage / panel shop. Basically it's a "U" shaped frame on 400kg casters.

Being "U" shaped it allows clear access from the front which will make it alot easier to manouver the Celica box underneath when doing the custom mounts.

It attaches to the front leaf mount and also locks into the jacking mount in the chassis rail below the doors. This will enable me to transport it on a car trailer if required in the future without removing it from the roller (that's the plan anyhow).

In theory the casters are rated to 1600kg in total so as long as the frame holds up I can assemble the whole car on it (not that I will)

So, does this now classify as a rolling shell...........?

Top idea Paul. Black Simmo's on the White RS will look Sweet.
Good luck with the build.

LOL! [88]

That's a great way of looking at it!

Still undecided on the wheel colour but I'm guessing I have a while to make up my mind.......[^]

I've ordered my wheels (15 inch superlites) in a custom charcoal with the polished lip to contrast against my white RS, but I spent serious time considering black with polished lip coz both would look so sweet on the RS in white.

Good luck deciding! Car's looking great!

OK, some pics of the new sections welded in by Mark (2quick4u) over the past few months - cheers mate .

Slow going as we're only doing a day here and there but the results are well worth the effort. Basically all that has been done once welded is to have the welds knocked down and primed to prevent unnecessary rusting.

All replacement sections were donated from other shells and trimmed to fit. Both lower rear quarters were rotten (inner, outer AND the lower rear wheel well) so all the individual replacement sections were unstitched to be re-installed.

The heater area was rusted through beneath the fan shroud so this too was replaced with a donar section and a replacement plenum cover installed. I have left the grill section below the windscreen free to be riveted on as it will make accessing while painting much easier.

The next sections to tackle are the "C" pillars as the've gone in the usual places adjacent to the rear side windows and in the top corners of the boot opening [V]

Stay tuned.......
