Is that going to be a daily driver Paul?, or maybe a possible occasional circuit racer? Still going down the Zetec route aswell for your other vehicle?
Cheers

This is the ONLY vehicle apart from the VT family car. The Zetec is on hold as it's been filed in the too hard basket for now - I just want to drive it and have fun

Although it needs to be filled, primed, painted and assembled first!

Sounds like a good project!

I am always suprised how many engines seem to have unknown cams in them, when they form such an important part of an engines profile. I'm the same though, have lots of camshafts sitting around my workshop that have been given to me that I have no idea what'soever on what profile they are, until I sit down and start working them out.

Will the car be staying white? I like white RS2000s!

Yes, white is not my favourite or chosen colour but as I'm determined to build a genuine RS I guess it would be the right thing to keep it the original colour.

Well I guess I could measure the cam lift and the duration which might point me in the right direction regarding it's origins - unlesss there are any other obvious markings [:I] I doubt it's anything more than a mild fast road cam etc as the idle is very stable and it seems to pull quite well from around 2000rpm.

I guess I have a fair amount of time to pretty all the gear up ready to fit

Give me some credit - I've gone further with this one in 3 days than I had in 5 years with the original project car [B)]

Currently unstitching the sections from donar vehicles ready to fit once the cancer ridden portions have been removed from the shell.

Pics to follow shortly.........

My panel man (thanks Mark ) is away for a month so work has halted until he returns.

I can take some shots of the repair sections that I've unstitched and sand blasted if it's any help ATM? It might give you some idea of the route we're taking to repair my rear quarters...

OK, here are the rear quarter repair sections that have been unstitched and (mostly) cleaned up. They will be "offered" upto the sections needing replacement and trimmed to fit.

They will be attached using a combination of butt welding and plug welding in the original spot welds for originality etc

Nice to see things being done to perfection. Lots of work in doing it this way but it will be a far better resalt at the end. I have a mate that is doing the same to my second RS. He has been making the replacment sections from scratch mostly as i couldnt find any Escort shells that were any good. It is taking a long time but It is also being done properly.
Enjoy the job, take your time(but not to long) and you will have a emaculate car at the end.[:p][:p][:p]
