have we got any auto sparky / instrument type people on the forum??.  Looking at possibility of using a later model VSS driven speedo. Can they be used without interpretation of an ECU, realise will need a pulse calibration module of some sort.  Want to use something standard to fit into the cluster, not a programmable after market one, a bit more factory looking. Have found a 4 cyl set that looks like it would fit nicely, but is it " pie in the sky " to think of hooking it up successfully. I know the T5 sensor will fit a Type 9, I have changed gearbox, diff ratio and wheel size so want a more accurate speedo.  Thoughts, have done this before, etc?  We don't have an instrument guy in Townsville at all to bounce ideas off and too hard over the phone long distance ( Brisbane )

Hi all,
To follow on with my original post, have been playing around with the idea of using a Falcon XD/XE setup.  Got hold of a speedo from a mate and also borrowed a spare set of RS gauges from another mate just to see if the Falcon one would physically fit into the escort instrument cluster- BUMMER-it won't, even with the openings in the escort cluster opened up to its max size the speedo from the falcon is just a few mil too big.  I did some research and Burtons do a specific adaptor for the T9 box with a Ford type pulse generator which hooks up to it.  Add a set of plugs and wiring from a wreckers in Melbourne give a workable system . Falcon speedo is 107mm opening, so if you have a speedo which is bigger you might be able to use this setup.  It seems my only option is to use an after market programmable one but at least I know where to get an adaptor and pulse generator to work with it.  Late model ECU driven ones are a night mare- multi plugs and wires in every direction, won't be going down that path.  Len
