Hi Escortinadriver,
Yes piccies of the rear end very soon.
Health is improving but left arm and shoulder is still weak and limited.
I am blessed with the 4 poster hoist but is still a challenge.
Thank You for prompting me along with all this. :)

Peter you have done well to still have the house, car, camera, t shirt and be able to fit into it after 40 years.
It's good to have a goal sometimes to get us motivated. I always look forward to your project updates.

Thanks Blue74. :)  The trick is don't get married, don't have kids and no subsequent divorce.

Hi All,
I've been quietly busy chipping away at the rear axle housing.
The axle housing project started in 1985 which is a shortened Borg Warner assembly from an XD Falcon.  Custom axles and fitted the XD Falcon calipers which in practice were far too large and heavy for the RS2000 however in 1985 the choices of rear calipers with external handbrake mechanism was relatively limited.
In 2019 the choices of rear calipers has increased significantly so the Falcon calipers were recently removed and I went for a 4 hour walk through the wrecking yard with pen and paper, measuring stick (rule) and shifters (vernier calipers) measuring just about everything. Came home, did some calcs and went back the following day and bought the ventilated rotors and the calipers.
The photos show the current development which is still a work in progress.
The caliper brackets were removed and manufactured new ones however retained the slides themselves. The caliper brackets still need further machining mainly to remove weight.
The brake assembly brackets to axle housing are temporary and proof of concept only.
The rotors are 235mm diameter X 18mm ventilated, two piece (the hat is removable).
The calipers are from Vectra 2005. The Vectra has 12mm solid rotors, however I found the piston can be wound out to accept the 18mm rotors without any modification.
Yesterday I refitted the axle housing to the car which has been successful.
More piccies in a few days.

Looks pretty serious!

If or when you have the time, and or, when the body allows it, id be keen to see how it all mounts up under the body.

Glad to see progress.  I know what long term projects are like...lol
