Hey, thought I would update with a picture.
Went for first decent drive the other day up to Mt Nebo. Performance was OK, strugled getting out of second gear on the really hilly stuff, it is definately breathing heavy when on the first stage of the carby, it has a webber 32/36. I guess I will have to learn how to tune it myself. So much for paying A Tuning Shop to run it up un the dyno and get it road ready.
On a positive note the handeling is superb, Nick at Fulcrum in Hillcrest QLD really knows his stuff. The car was nice and flat as well as being complient enough to take out harshness, the rear end is a little harsher but I guess you get that with live axles. I was totally knackered after the run though, a combination of brakes that take a fair amount of leg pressure and seats that arent all that supportive on twisty roads as well as my own fitness made it exhausting. I think comfortable, air conditioned newer cars make people a little soft, its definately a shock to the system to be back in such a raw car.
So what am I thinking now, well, when money permits, there is a list of things that are bothering me.
Seats, the OEM's are beautifull but not adjustable and not all that supportive so I want to replace them with something that meets the breif, I am looking at options that allow a lower seated position and further back from the pedals, I am not greedy just want say 50mm of each.
Tune the carby for less snatch when transitioning between off and on throttle. There is an obvious lack of fuel on the first stage causing power delivery issues.
Find a few niggleing rattles, I guess everybody suffers from that one.
Cooling - After speaking to a couple of fellas at Natrad they suggest putting the fan and shroud back on so that I have airflow over the new radiator and motor all of the time.
I have a well installed electric fuel pump with all the safety related gear but I am starting to wonder?
I was flooring it the other day up a hill and into the higher rev range and got a splutter which was surely a fuel delivery issue, not 100% but pretty sure.
Cheers. GMU..
