Hi all,
I'm a 20 year old Maltese guy, and have gotten my hands on a Capri II 1976, for restoration.  Body wise it only has got some rust on the bottom of the doors and mudguards, no big deal.  I tested the engine(for only a couple of minutes as the carb was spilling out petrol and thought it was dangerous) and it seems to be running quite smooth(it's still the factory original 1.3L), though I have yet to test it out well after I fix the carb with its kit I'm waiting to be delivered, and stop the leaking differential.  The only problem mechanical wise so far is the gear shifter. It is marked with a green ring at the bottom, I do not know what that part is called in English, and it's broken from there. I have been told I have to get my hands on a full gear shifter, not just that "broken part"(If it helps, its the part that connects the shifter itself to the transmission). I cannot find one, so I thought of purchasing a gearbox just to take that apart.  So if any of you know of an online shop where i can get my hands on one, it would be great.

Interior-wise, though, is a mess. I need to change the seats, the dashboard plus it's fascia, roof lining, floor carpet, door cards, practically everything.  Before you comment, I know that the current fascia is that used on the V6 or 2.0 Pinto versions, I've got the original cluster when I bought it apart:)

I would like to order everything brand new(seats, fascia for dashboard, door cards) as if they're a tad old or worn, or not look 100% factory-like, they would mess the look of a "fresh out of the factory capri".  The dashboard however, I wouldn't mind it being a bit worn, as that can be covered in vinyl easily.  The roof lining and flooring can be done at any upholster I guess, no big deal.  I contacted Aldridge Tuning, but I got a negative replay for the seats and door cards, so I would like to ask you where can I get them from? If you lead me to a second hand , though good, ones, I would appreciate them too.

I would really love to hear from you out there, in the meantime may you have a great festive season :)

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year all :)

Regards,
Daniel Fenech

If I were you I would go for the Essex,  despite that a 2.0 has a wider variety to custom, it is much much more beautiful for the eye, and noise-wise, when you open the hood to find a V6.

Today I was fidgeting around with its electronics and almost everything worked fine:)
I attached a pic of how I want it to be when finished(The previous owner gave me its lowering kit too).

The easiest way regarding the shifter, is to get a quick-shift as they're easier to find I guess.  Anyways,  I will contact some local clubs in the coming weeks indeed and will update the pics on here to show you the progress:)

Regards.

Australia did not get the MK2 and Mk3 Capris.  Only Mk1's.  You will have more luck finding interior and body parts on some of the UK capri froums like Capri Laser Forum etc.  Ebay UK is your best source of parts (I have noticed though a lot of UK sellers wont send to Malta - not sure whats thats about),   Good luck

And you are quite right about UK Sellers on Ebay not sending to Malta.   But thankfully Malta Post have kind of created a solution for this via Sendon where first they ship the items to a set up UK address, then from there it's sent to Malta.
