Anybody out there looked at these JBW wheels sold in UK in particular on Ebay uk. They look the part and are quite cheap. I was reading up on them and there appears to be mixed reviews. Was wanting to know if anyone here has taken the plunge and bought them.

A few members here are running JBW RS 4 spokes, but you have to watch the offset with the 7" wide ones, as the tyres will rub the guards unless they are rolled.  I've read reports of JBW wheels being your typical Chinese ¢r4p, but most of the compaints are about the finish peeling rather than them cracking.  The UK is undoubtedly their biggest market, and I assume that the roads get salted in winter to deal with the snow, which can't be good for wheels, and of course isn't an issue in Australia.  I wouldn't want to rally with them, as forged wheels are stronger and hence more appropriate, but I'd use them on the street.

I've had a few sets of RS 4-spokes, and they don't rub if you order them in the correct offset and use appropriate tyres. (On a Mk 2 Escort, that is.)

so, 13x7 ET30?

thanks. I had 15x6 SAAB steels ET33 with 195 tyres on my Mk1 and they just cleared strut body & 'swaybar at full lock' with quite a lot of room on the outer-side (to front & rear guard lips)

I'm guessing your rims are 6"? And 185's tyres are about as big as you can go?

For 6" wide wheels an ET of 13 works well (for a Mk2 Escort anyway), as there is no fouling when running 205s tyres.  Wheels with an ET30 will sit 18mm closer to the strut, which will kind of defeats the purpose of wide wheels IMO.

Check this calculator out to see the effect of different offsets (ETs).

Guys I spoke to minisport in Adelaide regarding superlites and he reckons the superlites made in uk are better in quality than ones built here. He also mentioned he sells a lot of JBW and never had an issue.i am seriously thinking of getting a set off ebay not midlands of JBW as they are well priced. Knowing offsets etc is the next ordeal to run my standard mk2. Currently running hotwires 13 6 " with 205 60 13
