Hi, the basic engine cost was $450 I then rebuilt it using ARP bolts and studs etc Eagle rods with JE pistons. The water rail came from Dunnell in UK @ $250 . Sump was made up and pickup pipe. I have an Ally flywheel $250 and Spec clutch kit to handle up to 400bhp $390 . Engine mounts are still being made once it goes back in after painting the van. Megajolt kit $350? exh manifold from USA $180 . Intake manifold can be a modified 1600 or fabricate one depends on carb(s) , my mk1 runs R1 bike carbs on home made intake and Gave a healthy 105kw@wheels at 6000rpm.
A Cheap install Inc motor yu can do for about $1500 by using what is there .ie the focus clutch and flywheel, alt Mount, cutting the sump to fit escort and making the pan from sheet Ally . Escort engine mounts can be cut/welded to fit . The belt is changed as is the pulleys placement .

Retro ford in the uk have all the parts too, I picked up retro ford magazine the other week and it had one of a two part feature of how to wire in the standard set up. In the uk this conversion has been done heaps so may be good idea to join a forum such as old school ford or similar.
