I am in the midst of gathering parts for my Zetec Mk2 Escort i am nearly there but can anyone help. I currently have a 4 speed with a 1.6lt bell housing, will this work or will i need to source a 2lt bellhousing.

if that's the case does anyone have one, or what are they worth?

cheers

xflow 1.6 bellhousing will fit fine. flywheel/clutch combos and startermotors can be a bit more involved.
what zetec are you using?
Which flywheel ?
which starter option ?

Thanks hendo
It's a blacktop zetec from a 99 Mondeo

I was going to use the retro ford kit from the uk that includes flywheel clutch and starter but that is to suit a 2lt bell housing

I am stuck at the moment as I don't have the money to import the kit so I have extra time to think of how it's going to go together.

If you can help that would be great; any ideas?

In the MK2 (1st zetec we fitted) we used 2.0 mondeo engine with std mondeo clutch and pressure plate, machined the ring gear stop 13mm further forward to use std escort starter, worked great but old type starters wear out the bendix clutch (starter motor clutch not transmission clutch) and need replacment every 12-15mths or so.
we have since fitted a 1.8 flywheel, machined to take pinto pressure plate (1.8 is smaller and lighter than 2.0 and has a smaller clutch which simply slips above 2000 rpm). the lighter flywheel makes for a much more responsive engine, and std pinto clutch works well. the starter to suit this is from a scorpio/sierra and is available from woods auto electricail in Halifax UK who will post to Australia ( i will look up the part number and let you know).
I have drawings of engine mount brackets for zetec to chassis mount which I can dig out and post if you need them.
I have used Retro sumps engine mounts and water rail and raceline water rail, they all work well. The raceline rail is slightly better looking. I will dig out a couple of happy snaps of the 2 fitted so you can see.

I have the machined 2.0 flywheel and a set of 4 ninja carbs on a manifold(which run very well, still on the MK1) which I might part with soon, if you are interested.

Retro stuff is good, just be awear that import over $1000 inc post will attract GST, so may be split it up and offset extra postage Vs GST on total single package. flywheel clutch and water pumps are available here in Oz, possibly more expensive than retro but no postage from UK to pay. Flywheel from Focus in wreakers is only $80-120 depending who you ring. If you are running carbs and not injection, mega jolt lite is good set up for ignition and trigger wheels in UK supply kit already built with all the terminals and Ford connections even wireing and diagram.
