Im putting a 3.7 litre ford cyclone engine into my capri and i wanted to start a new thread here as its going to be a huge challenge and i would like to document its progress bit by bit my race car is featured in capri projects atm.
As most of you have not even seen a cyclone v6 in real life they are a very tall engine about 200mm taller than a essex v6. This engine was bought on ebay america about 8 months ago its out of a ford flex and was a east west engine.
Ginetta sports cars are using the same engine and a guy down the gold coast was getting 334hp out of his in standard form his was the 3.5 earlier version.
As you can see from the photos the engine is sitting on the steering rack and popping out of the bonnet.
I have sunk a few grand into it so i will just have to keep going untill i get the mongrel in there.
Gearbox is a t56 and mazfix have made a lovely adaptor plate and starter motor adaptor to get it all fitting right ,the starter is afrom a late model hilux.
When they made the a/plate the main shft wasnt going into the crank so a bearing was pressed into the flywheel and that solved that problem.
My next hurdle will be getting a manifold to fit so the bonnet can close with out touching and having a sump modified to clear the cross-
Here;s a few phpotos so far.member and rack.

Ive got the shifter coming out of the original hole but it still needs to come up 1/2 an inch so i will have to unpick the original cross-member mount to gain that vital few mm's

Very good Jimmy. Dry sumping the engine might be an idea. She looks nice n tight in the bay.

Putting spaces between the front x member and the body might help with bonnet clearance.

Yeah  max i thought about putting spacers there too. As you can see by the photo thats the main stud girdle laying on the steering rack so its tight.

The aftermarket power steering kits sit behind the x member.
You might have to mid mount the engine and rose joint the steering shaft.

No i cant mid mount the engine as im building it closely to improved production rules.
The steering isnt the problem it fits ok its the height of the motor thats the main problem.
