Id be putting at least 30k on it. Best advice i got from insurance (shannons) was that if it was written off today what would i need to spend to replace it in the shed tomorrow, like for like. So look at the current 'For sales' of mk2 2 doors with same mods and price it right there.

Ive got mine down for 30k.

Best quote I had was for $11,000 and that was from Shannon’s. I tried telling the bloke that if you can find one for sale nobody will part with a 2 door in good running order with a bit of work done for 11k but he wouldn’t let me give him more yearly for an increased agreed value. Strange I thought

That’s pretty poor form from Shannon’s. I’d be calling them again. Have a quick google search of what’s on gumtree/car sales and say look here’s one for X amount. They actually did this when I registered my bike with them and increased its value by going off what was for sale.

I do have cars, bikes and the house with them which may help. Also say your in a car club, go to regular events etc.

You're doing agreed or market value?
Just choose agreed value if you prefer, then you just pay how much cover you want it replaced for.
You know how much its cost you.
If it got written off or stolen, what would they have to pay to replace it with same spec?
You dont want to be paying for an overinsured premuim, but I would have thought 30K would not be too far off either?

We just had a total writeoff on a 6 month old car with 3000 kms on it.
Still waiting for the replacement vehicle to be built, but we have been given a hire car until then (will be about 4-5 months all up)
They covered our accessories, dashcams, towbar (2k alone), even the clothes we wore that were cut off in the accident. Thats the first time we've needed insurance, but I'm glad it was actually usable when we needed it.

This is the bit I can’t get my head around. It was the agreed valu, they wouldn’t go higher. I asked if I could pay more for them to insure it up to $20,000 and the bloke on the phone said $11,000 was as high as Shannon’s were prepared to go in its current form given it has the wrong engine in it! Tried calling again but didn’t get through, will try again tomorrow and hopefully get someone else on the phone. Don’t understand why they wouldn’t want me to pay more yearly! Haha

RAC would only go up to $3,500 for the escort online. Gave them a call and they said they could increase the agreed value if I took it to an RAC approved mechanic to have it inspected and then valued and a second valuation by a Historic car specialist. We are insured with them on our new car and had my previous new car with them too and they have been excellent. Glad they paid yours out, did you say you were wearing a diamond encrusted suit?

The guy on the phone stated that the most recent sales on his software were around $11,500 so because mine had a bit of rust and rubbish front seats $11,000 was the highest they could go. Think you are right, try again and hopefully get someone else who is happy to take more money from me yearly hahah

After struggling with a little hesitation when accelerating I decided to rebuild the carbie. Very glad I did, makes me wonder if the filter is actually doing anything though. All fitted back on the car now and running much much better!

Also readjusted the tappets but they are still making the slightest noise. Not sure if that is normal after fitting a new cam and followers etc and they just take a little time to quiet down.

Some more bits arrived today.

Managed to get just enough time for removal of the AP’s and new HiSpec disc fitted and hub back on. Also trial fitted the new calliper. Tomorrow same for the other side and fit the new braided hoses.

From the UK, two and a half weeks, most of that was getting them from HiSpec as I think they build them to order. It was 5 days after dispatch from Burtons.
