Awesome work mate, your a lot more handy then me.

Will be awesome to get it back on the road cruising again!

Youtube, the forums and a lot of mistakes. If I added up the hours doing those three it probably works out at half the price to just pay someone else hahaha

Moving to some dust sealed HiSpec calipers (Billet 4) and 260x20mm discs. Ap’s will go on the track escort when I event get to it!

Reasons for the change.

1. Legality
2. Easy fit with the existing strut (I hope)

Chose the HiSpec kit over Wilwood Midilite one as the company is a bit smaller and your interaction with them is more personal. Also I liked the Ferodo DS2500 pads I had in the AP’s and could get the same pads for the HiSpecs but with the Wilwoods the pad range isnt there and you end up looking at Wilwood’s own pad range which didn’t sit well with me. The Wilwood kit also required more modifications and I am just keen to get back on the road so anything to save some time in the shed (or rather driveway and back patio).

Have you decided on yours yet?

I think I’ve decided just not sure if I’ll go a 277mm or 295mm disc using the cp5100 caliper. It seems the 295 disc is more readily available in aus through forza brakes but sometimes they list but don’t have stock for months which means I’d have to buy replacements from the Uk anyway. I’ve heard good things about the ds2500 pad and was going to get those also.

Quite a few people on here have used the high spec kit and it looks well made.

+1 For the HiSpec.
I fitted some to my Capri last year, there were a few pics on here, after reading a some good reviews.
I followed the Classic Ford Magazine exactly, even fitting them upside down like they had in the photos.

Then wondered why they would not bleed properly.
Anyhow, they stopped great, no mods needed, and fitted with 14" wheels (but 13's would be fine).
Ordered with EBC pads from Burtons.

Glad to hear some more positive reports of the HiSpec kit, hopefully I can get mine the right way around as I don’t have the classic Ford mag guide to assist haha. Aside from your aforementioned issue was the guide helpful? Worth looking for?

I guess the question is how often are you going to burn through discs! I’m certain you’ll notice a few months before at the very least that they are on there way out, I’ve seen the love and attention your car gets!!! hahaha

Yeah that is true! In reality replacing rotors is something not done often

On the phone to the insurance company today and I thought their agreed value was off. Interested in what others would value my car at in its current form.

1977 Ford Escort MkII
1600 Kent +.040 Nural Pistons, Standard rods and crank. Mild porting, Kent Cams BCF3 and extractors, standard motorcraft carb. Rebuilt with new timing chain and adjustable vernier pulley, new oil pump, fuel pump, water pump and mahle bearings in June 2021.
Gaz coil overs up front with alloy hubs and 267x21mm AP Racing vented and grooved rotors, Ap racing CP4567 calipers, gpr4 fabrications peddle box with twin girdling master cylinders, adjustable track control arms and eccentric alloy top mounts
decambered rear leafs and 1in lowering blocks, Gaz dampers, polybushes throughout front and rear, rear antiroll bar, JBW Minilite 13x7-7wheels
paint is a little faded in bonnet, roof and boot but otherwise good, some small spots of rust in door handle depression, rear panel around fuel filler and a little in passenger A piller. Dent ab e passenger side rear wheel arch. Otherwise new floors welded in maybe 8 years ago and maybe 5000km driven since.
Interior, rear seat as good as when it came out of the showroom, stack gauges(oil pressure and water temp), carpets near new, front two seats in poor condition and quickshifter to go with rebuilt gearbox about 10,000km ago and AP racing clutch at the same time.

Don’t expect too many responses but will post up what the insurance company stated their agreed value would be after a day or two.

Id be putting at least 30k on it. Best advice i got from insurance (shannons) was that if it was written off today what would i need to spend to replace it in the shed tomorrow, like for like. So look at the current 'For sales' of mk2 2 doors with same mods and price it right there.

Ive got mine down for 30k.
