hey guys

yeah ive recently done some work to it actually

the build thread is coming soon, next 24hrs I promise! I've just got a heap of work to get out of the way first. keep your eyes peeled!

As for cooling system upgrade - I replaced my thermostat (opens at 82c I think) and took my radiatior to a rad shop where they took the tanks off and reemed out the pathways with a set of spike on a bench. It was about 6 years ago so I forget the name of the process - but since then I haven't had any overheating problems, even after spirited laps :)

If you're going pinto, maybe you could source a pinto rad instead. wonder if the kent hoses match up to a  pinto rad without much drama??

Yeah I had the radiator re-cored a few years back but you get a warm day and a decent thrash and it starts to get a little warm nothing really extreme though but not really an enjoyable temperature.

When I move to the pinto I will do it properly and purchase a new radiator with a few more cores

So small update...

Forgot to add this last time but I fitted a quick shift from smacka... Could not believe the change it made but I guess that can be expected given the tired worn standard item that it replace.

i put the same quickshift in last year and it has taken a serious beating and is still like new, best investment ive made i think! and in regards to tyres, get federal 595's. you cant get the rsr in 13's (which is a full semi slick) but the 595's are amazing in both wet and dry conditions, and cheap too.
cheers,
Ben

Hey Ben,

Yeah I can assure you that mine is going to take a beating so it's nice to hear that it can take it...

Cheers for the advice on the tyres, I might look into them when these wear down a little :)

So small update although not really about the green car...

I was recently given for parts and generally whatever I choose the blue car as seen below by a friend who could no-longer keep it for various reasons.

It looks a little scruffy and there are a few dents but mostly the shell is fine and free from rust!! I think it is a 1300 but not really sure (don't really know how to differentiate between the 1300 and 1600 without opening it up). It turns over and just needs the fuel system reconnected and I think it will start =)

The plan is to probably restore it with everything slightly improved so new dampers and springs (lowered of course) and a slightly worked engine but nothing too major, thats what the little green beast is for!!!

Cheers

Michael
