Get the quaife LSD, I can say they will take a beating. Mine went thru 3 different ratios and 2x housings, 1 axle (I bent it), millions of tyres and still good as gold 25yrs on. They've been around for ever and know their stuff . 3j had problems early on with casings breaking as weren't spun from a single chunk, pretty sure the problem was solved a while back.
At the end of the day most lsds on the market for escort will be fine, much stronger than the Anglia 34bhp diff they came with.... And gets rid of the open wheeler feeling..

Perfect time for a LSD

Have you fitted yours yet? I’ve actually been looking at the quaife ATB ones, bit more daily friendly, but keen to hear how your 3j is going

What half shaft spline did you get with yours? Did you keep running standard axles?

I dont even think i could get my half shafts out in my garage its tiny but in reality its just excuses as a i doubt my abilities.

Hmmmmm dont you hate that, id start with the stalk. i found the burton repros to work pretty well. My indicator switch was trashed and use to go off randomly, replaced it with a burtons repro and now its perfect, even feels solid and not sloppy.

My Capri one's a bit dodgy also, you have to press it and kinda giggle it around for the contact to get happy for the horn to work.
Defeats the purpose a bit, as by the time you get it to contact, the idiot has usually moved on.
I did find something out though last year when there was no horn at all. 20+ years ago when air horns were the rage,I sprung for a triple set, decent italian(?) jobbies. The last year, nothing, just a wheeze, like a cat hacking a furball.
Apparently you need to lube them up once in a while. A few drops of spindle oil down the compressor, bingo!.

The next dodgy deliveroo nearly backflipped off his moped, thinking he'd just cut off a Vline N Class.
But it was just a mild mannered, 1600 pastel blue Capri only driven on sundays.

I use the Same axles as standard, never had a problem. I ran 185/60 13 tyres on most of my cars . Only fitted 15x7 on cars I sold as the weight is heavier , tyres were the usual 195/50 or 185/55.
Edit; SA lock-in is a suck but I'm loving the shed time even if it's icelandic weather right now..

Im starting to think I should have just shipped a container of escort parts from the UK and I haven’t even begun to look at the rusted panels!

It also seems that someone has previously meddled with the light circuit as the wire colours are not what they state in the Haynes, Gregory’s or Ford workshop manuals. So that took a little while to work out! Rain interrupted play though (only problem with working on the driveway), so not yet found the gremlin.
