Hey guys,

The last couple of times I've taken the Sierra on longer runs it seems to be getting a bit hot. I'm hoping it's just a thermostat or maybe partially blocked radiator, but I'll get it to a specialist to have it checked shortly. Wouldn't mind having a thermostat on hand anyway, just in case that's what it turns out to be. Does anyone know whether you can buy an equivelant replacement here in Australia or do I need to track one down in the UK?

Hi Paul I was told by a guy that its the same as the 2 litre Escort one and the part number is Tridon TT4-192. I have not tried it as I sent to Burtons for one that opens at 82 degrees part QTH371, Mine ran a lot cooler after this change. Hope this helps

Thanks David, I've ordered a thermostat from Burtons.

Is there anything special about the radiators in these things? I was thinking of trying a good radiator flush but don't want to stuff it by using the wrong one.

Paul, if you haven't completed your Burton order I'd get a replacement temperature sender (sensor) for your original in dash gauge.

Although, it sounds like your gauge it reading correctly, my experience is this sensor 'drifts' over time and is worth changing regulary.

You're spot on actually Tristan. The guage isn't reading quite right and it sounds like the temperature sender might be the culprit. Unfortunately I've already finalised my order with Burtons, so it looks like I'll have to make another order.

Yes that is the temperature sender for the gauge. I may have a spare new one myself, but I would need to check.
