Well most of you would have seen posts on this forum of my wifes Gt Capri project so I thought it was time to do a post in the projects pages.
We bought the car about 7 years ago in parts as it was another mates project that he had to move on & my wife always has wanted one so the deal was done.
When we got the car it sat for 6 or so months in the shed gathering dust before we started doing some panel work to it as it had rust in both A pillars, lower front guards, vent cowling etc. So we did about 6 months work on it but I got distracted & went over to other side on the shed & worked on my 1966 XP Falcon with a blown 347 Windsor of which saw the demise of working on the Capri.
So in March this year we went to Bali with family & friends, my mate Bill & I had also just finished his 1957 Ford Fairlane project in January of 2010 of which is in the June editon of Street Machine & Perth Street Car mags, very nice car. Anyways we are sitting on Legian Beach having a few Bintangs at 5.30 in the arvo waiting for the sunset & we were talking about my wifes Capri & of course the question came up, when the F#@k are you going to get that finished for Wend (my wife)?? of which the reply was, as soon as we get back from Bali we will get stuck straight in !!!
So Bill calls me 4 days after we get back so are we working on the Capri today or what, well now we have done on average about 5 days/nights per week since getting back from Bali with great results being born from our labour & that of other friends as well who are also car enthusiasts.
Painting is now all done & it has been a pain the the arse but it does now look the part (well I think anyways) & we are are now into the reasembling, not to put us under pressure at all but we have entered the Capri for it's debut car show in 28/29 August 2010 at the Street Machine & Hotrod Spectacular at Burswood.
So anyway I will try to post up some more photos as I get time.
Kev.
