hey guys, some interesting discussion taking place. how slack have i been? very. currently sorting out the cooling room and mounting setup without chopping the front of the car off. ive contacted ringwood autoparts who ive heard good things about so im waiting on some info from them.

sr20det guys, are you running an aluminium radiator or will a standard one suffice?
cheers

alright........... let's update.

ok, bought a smallish intercooler to keep the stealth look.

there is room to go bigger if i want but for now it is looking ok. intercooler "installed"

all is well so i purchase a silvia aluminium radiator, 40mm thick triple pass. sweet.

looks good.........

from that angle. have a look at this

the crazy angle is caused by the drain plug fowling on the chassis rail. do i need the drain plug? i am about to cut it off.

heres the drain plug

and in place...(please excuse the hack angle grinder job down there)

ok, so next step is to cut off the drain plug and the radiator cap. and get it blanked with a TIG. ill then drill and tig overflow into the side of the radiator and run it to an overflow tank with the radiator cap attached.

either that or ill just drop a hole saw through the bonnet [88]

more cutting required to get the intercooler and radiator even further forward. then its mount gbox time. booyeah

Plan B. had a better think about it, instead of blanking off the drain plug i sectioned out the bottom tank and made up some new aluminium plates to get welded into place.

test fitted with the bonnet. and it now fits! so i no longer require any mods to the top tank.

check it out, note the new stainless valley cover

i removed more from the front because i thought i could get the radiator even closer to the front. however the chassis rails meet the front apron and it would mean i would have to modify the bottom tank and severely restrict the outlet of the radiator.

i will have to modify the outlet pipe of the radiator as its too close to the altenator, no biggy. (little bit hard to see)

next up is thermo fans. after toying with radiator position and angles ive decided 2x 10" thermos will do the trick mounted in between radiator and motor. i thought id have the option to go between intercooler and radiator but no go.

hey Shea...
nice work!, i worked out i got 105mm once intercooler is in to the crank pulley so with that radiator(40mm) i would have 60mm for fans..
i'm pretty sure some on ebay are 50 or 60mm.

Have you got a link to the radiator?, i looked at a couple of 180sx/silvia ones but they were too big.

barney the core is 40mm, tanks are 60mm i believe.

get in contact with the place i got mine from

thanks Shea...

still looks a touch high for the bonnet to close?? or are you blanking off the radiator cap and mounting it remotely??

This is the one i'm looking at looks the same :)

670x430x40 add 30mm for cap
