Hi Guys, what brand of tyres are you running on the Capri???
Any brands to stay away from?

BEE VEE
Almost impossible to get bad tyres these days if you buy from a long-standing Tyre Dealer, or your own Mechanic, so you have backup should anything go amiss

Choice depends on wheel size, not much choice in 13's now, my 3000E has 14 X 6 minilites on it, I got some Pirellis for $100 each brand new.

I have 13in 205's Maxxis on mine.  No complaints.

13's are still around, I just purchased a set of Federals to go on the escort, but there were at least 4 manufacturers offering 205/60/13's, depending on the look your going for.

They are pretty soft compound though.
On the capri, I'm the same as GTV6, 14"' with minilights

Hi

I would suggest that these are the best http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/185-70vr13-pirelli-cinturato-cn36.html

I think they are over tyres on 205

Hi

That is a fair cop Gov.

i have changed my signature to Longstone Tyres, so it should be clear from now on.

However my claim about this tyre being the best is based on the fact that it is actually a period tyre where the carcass is designed to suit cars of this period. (Unless the suspension is modified to suit a modern tyre) they suit a tyre carcass with rounded shoulders.

Personally i have had a 2.8i Capri with 205 tyres on it. I have also had a few 5 series Cortina's with a selection of tyres on them and preferred the smaller tyres. I actually preferred 165HR13 Michelin XAS on my Cortina's.

Unlike Escorts, I think with the wider track the capri can handle a wider and lower profile tyre. They look right and still drive ok.

I think the period style tyres look bloody awful ..Sorry to offend but the Capri might be an old farts car but it doesn't have to dress like one.

A modern looking tyre on a period rim is the way to go IMO.

Er
Totally disgree.

they don't handle better on wider tyres.

Modern carcass design absolutely doesn't suit them unless you adjust the camber.

modern tyres look rubbish

CN36 look fantastic.
