BEE VEE
Hi Guys,
I assume, right or wrong, those of you contemplating NEW doorcards from various sources either have originals missing altogether, or damaged beyond all help ?
All my 4 door cards are un-damaged on the finished surface, and was wondering ......how hard can it be to trace my old warped card "inner support"  onto new thin marine ply, cut it out, and fit original "skin" plus new fixings ?
.........and save around $1000 !
Those lucky enough to be "handy", & have a spare set, & some patience..... could at least give it a go maybe ? ... The joy of being able to say.... "I did that" is also worth considering.
cheers, Bernie

mine were not that bad on the trim but the backing was pretty much warped could of wet it again and placed a board on top to let it dry flat
the only thing tho was i was replacing new seat trim and it wouldnt of looked that good with the old door cards
so for 750 delivered to my door wasnt  a bas price and makes a world of difference to the look of the car

did all the other repairs myself panels rust etc  and thought id buy the trim  save me a bit of time doing it ,,

also thought by the time i do it maybe 2 or 4 times and get it right or maybe make it worse would be easier just to let a trimmer do it and have it right the first time

i guess some will have a go  at it but in my case it was easier tobuy from the uk at that price ..

dont know if you blokes who brought trim noticed but the rear trim have different clips to the front and the standard original trim has rectangle type clips so does the 1/4 trim backing on the original ones where the uk ones have a   round hole like the front door trim havent tried to fit the 1/4 ones but i noticed that it was different to the front ones and the uk ones

i take a pic so you blokes know what im on about

here is a couple pics of the rear 1/4 trim original mounting clips and what they look like original

this is original style  and original clips the inside quater frame has small rectangle  slots that them clips press into ....
now need to see or get clips that will fit in the round holes with rectangle ends or drill a hole in the rectangle slots in the 1/4 inner frame to accomiate the round female and male clips ..
nothing is easy these days in resto work on capris

and this pic is the uk trims how thwy come with round holes not the same as the original style
