tried to get insurance for capri today

few mates told me nrma had classic car insurance

rang them and what a joke they are the idiots tried to compare the gt against a 90 model telling me they are only worth  10gs i laughed so loud..
i then explained it was a 72 gt v6 she went on just cars and said there is one for 14 gs  and didint even know if it was a 4cyl or v6 gt ..  i was curious and looked myself and seen all the others v6 range from 20+ to 45 gs
she told me nrma would give layover cover for 20 ..if i wanted more then i would have to take pics of the whole car and everything i spent money on  and even then they might not go over 20gs  ... she then started to go on about how they had changed there classic car insurance valuation's etc  i have to say nrma classic car insurance is a joke ... maybe it was just the idiot child i got on the phone ,, not sure but never again id get nrma

it was the wierdest bloody phone call ive had with a insurance mob felt like i was speaking to a child who knew nothing about cars or there value ..

in the end i went with shannons and got 30 for layover without seeing car and after i got rego i can take to shannons  centre and let them view it and increase the value ...

i must say shannos was great to deal with and i wouldnt insure my push bike with nrma

BEE VEE
Rod, as u speak of NRMA , I'll assume ur from NSW as your profile doesnt say.

As a Victorian, I insured my first RED PLATE car with RACV on a XY GS Fairmont 351 Auto for $50G Comprehensive cover for $130 which was around HALF what Shannons wanted to bend me over for($250 odd).
Then I accidently found out that only with RACV, am I covered AUSTRALIA WIDE for free callouts for any breakdown and free towtruck if needed !  ........AND if the local mechanic , even if he's in woop woop, cant get me back on the road within a few days, RACV will pay for a loan car, or train/bus ticket back home, and flatbed my XY back home even if across Australia !  I had to pinch myself and ask for it in writing. They informed me it's all in the BOOK they sent with my receipt. Sure was.  'Bout the only time I've ever been impressed with an Insurance Co for anything at all.
Needless to say, all my other RED PLATE Cars are with RACV.

For all I know, Shannons may be better than NRMA in NSW, in opposite contrast with Victoria ?????
Anyone ?????

yeah im not sure if it was the idiot that just happen to pick up the phone at nrma  ,, when i rang 2 months ago nrma was totaly different to what this idiot told me today

nrma also had you can only drive car 9000ks a yr and you cannot increase the value only at renewal time and not before ...
