Just nudging himself on the skid pan was a bit crazy, what was more crazy was the dickhead who kicked it and then wanted a blew. Burnout was masssive!

I was there when this happened, and the day before (i believe) he was qualifying for the sunday, the competitors get 60 seconds to come down the skid pan do their thing and get out, after the 60 seconds, marshals put up a red flag so you know, and out you go, unfortunatly steve didn't do this, and kept going for a further minute-minute and a half  despite cearly seeing the red flags. i was a ripper of a skid, and yes he would have gotten into the sunday event, however due to not exiting the skid pan after the minute, he was disqualified. then on the sunday, he just decided to line up anyways.

Branding us all as morons is a bit over the top, this was my first year, and i didnt have any problemsdown there at all, this was the only issue with the officials that i witnessed for th days i was there. even through the night on the saturday with the entertainment, there was no trouble, and for that amount of people, especially some of them drinking all day, everyone was well behaved.

Forte - after watching the video William linked that is mounted to the side of Nogas' car there was no sign that he was disqualified from his qualifier.

Nogas' lifetime ban has been lifted and I concur with the decision as I do not support making the rules up as you go along.

I was unsuprised to see no mention of "kicky/fighty" marshall.

I think that regardless what they say about the rules you as an entrant have no say
every time ive been there as a competitor it comes down to who you are talking to and what their mood is like on the day
even after we went to the office to complain and voice our opinion no one cared
so that is why the 20 plus cars that we all did enter are no more.

And why is the official not mentioned or saying he is sorry for his actions if that was you or me we would be banned or arrested.

Ah righto, sorry about that.
I wasn't there on the friday, there was a car on the saturday that did a skid for over two mins, and the commentators said he wont be coming back, must have got the cars mixed up

Old mate Steve was just trying to keep it real hahaha.

Is it the cams causing that engine to snort angrily every second?

And that marshall.... Dude needs some anger management classes. He's meant to be setting an example out there. Think safety first- If the situation becomes dangerous stand back and let the officials handle it.

In my opinion the competitors life ban should not have been lifted - forcing your car past officials is unpardonable. If he felt he had a legitimate grievance with being disqualified from running he should have followed the appropriate appeal process, not endanger people by pushing them out of the way with his car. His actions in this instance reinforce the stereotypical impressions that motoring enthusiasts are nothing but "hoons" with total disregard for public safety.

Its a sad situation that Summernats are now required to spell out in writing what is really a no brainer - you can not disregard officials/marshalls and endanger people with impunity, no matter how apologetic you are after the fact.

I was also there and I have mates who are good mates with Steve Nogas as he is a local from my area. On saturday in qualifing a fire marshall signalled for him not to drive his car off the pad after he done his skid. However, he didnt realise this and neither did the officials at the end of the pad and they gave him the all clear and said you have qualified for sundays burnouts so off he went happy as larry. Then after lining up for 3hrs on sunday he was told at the last minute no your not allowed on due to disobeying a fire marshall. His ban has been lifted as stated on Summernats website. Wat he done and what security done should never have happened (he himself has publicly addmitted he was in the wrong and apologised for it).
