What seems to have happened is that the driver Steve Nogas was told he was disqualified for reason stemming back to his qualifying burnout (disobeying a fire mashal), he forced his car through a group of officials and on to the track, and after the burnout he was escorted from the track and his car towed away.

That video pretty much sums up why I'll never take my car to Summernats...Officials that shouldnt be officials, entrants that should be jailed, its just out of control in every way.

If the officials thought quick enough they would have given the intake a long shot of CO2 and that would have saved all the greif...with no harm done.

None of the officials passed year 8 science Phil.
Still my type of event.
Couldn't be worse than the early fast fours and rotory shows.

Yeah, there is obviously more to the story than anyone will probably ever know and there's definately some controversy there...but the entrant blew any chance of having a case when he pushed his way onto the strip...should be a life ban in my book. Not forgetting the clown who kicked the car and pushed the entrant...he should be out for life too.

Are these some of the hillbillies trying to stop the new modified vehicle laws from becoming a reality???????? I can understand why the pollies frown at this event

Typical of the morons that go to Summernats. Make you wonder why the comentator was encouraging the crowd to cheer the idiot out. Also I would hate someone to kick my pride & joy, but then again I wouldnt jump on the roof or distroy the car doing burnouts either.

Honestly where is the skill in doing a burnout in a Gemini with a massive blown V8. Its like fishing with TNT.
The hardest part of the competition for those guys would have been writing their name on the entry form.

If the cars that go into the burnout comp had an external battery cutout switch like most race cars then the officials could of then shut the car down before he entered.

Typical of the morons that go to Summernats.

My friend and I both attended Summernats and I had a great time, Neale, and we are both reasonably well educated communications electronics technicians under the employ of the RAAF.

Branding all 100 000 people, which is the claimed attendance for Summernats this year, and over 1300 entrants as typically morons is moronic in itself, not to mention highly insulting and inflammatory.

Can you rethink these kind of statements prior to posting in the future?

As to your point about doing a burnout in that Gemini: the guy enters many burnout competitions in that vehicle and he still hit the wall, as did many others. There is little doubt in my mind that some of the entrants are very skilled at throwing their vehicles around a fairly small area.

Furthermore, enforcing the fitment of external isolator switches for burnout competitions when the vast majority are road registered vehicles, for the purpose of shutting down an unruly competitor, is in my opinion gross overkill.

In no way do I endorse the poor behaviour of Steve Nogas, driver, and believe sanctions against the "kicking/fighting marshall" should be swift and severe.

btw - the word is "destroy" not "distroy", but I will just assume that it's a typo.

Cheers.

As people have said there is definitely more to the story, but I couldn't help but smile at how good the skid was. Having said that, I will offer no opinion of who's right and who's wrong as it is highly controversial.
