This may not be news to wiser members of this forum but early in December I purchased a set of H4 headlights on EBay to replace the rusting lights in my very original 72 XL.
The short story is they don't fit & there a number of differences to the original lights.
I have sourced lots of parts, both within Australia & overseas, & this is the first time I have encountered a difficulty which is disappointing. I have contacted the seller with some suggested changes to his advert, but I haven't had any response.
The attached picture shows some of the differences
but if you are really bored & want the long, sad story, then it is on my blog at:http://fordcaprichatter.blogspot.com.au/

You mentioned in your blog the items supplied DID NOT have the park light facility as described in the advert.

If you paid via PayPal, then surely that is cause for a claim as being "not as described"....part from many others issues about not fitting. Note that you have 45 days (IIRC) friom date of purchase to lodge a claim.
Basically, if it is not what was advertised, then it is the wrong goods.

Being able to make a claim for "wrong goods" is one of the benfits of PayPal transactions.

Or even explore a Dispute claim thru eBay.
Do it thru eBay, not outside the system. Tehn they have a record (esp. re timeframes mentioned above).

I have had success with refunds for wrong goods supplied / did not fit as claimed by seller.

Good luck.

p.s. you've got me worried about my spare pair in the cupboard....excuse me, gotta go check......

The lights on the left look like Mk1 facelift.

Thank you, accapmad, for your advice.
I have had to seek a refund through Paypal once before when a UK supplier went broke but I wasn't aware of the 45 day time limit so I had better get my receipts out & get into to making a claim.

AFAIK, the Mk1 facelift lights are significantly bigger - not just a few mm.
They need to fill the gap left by the indicator (now inset into bumper), headlight and the narrower centre dip in the bonnet (we all know this as we all want the RS 4-headlight look that doesn't fit with the pre-facelift bonnet).
Check out some Mk1 Vs Mk1 facelift pics on google

Then what?
I have some of these as well but cant find any alternative.  I got mine a couple of years ago when I was told valiant lights would fit.  Seems a few ebay sellers have got onto this now probably not realising the differences.  They have been sitting in the box waiting for the rebuild so I didnt pick up on the lack of park light until you mentioned it.  Would be keen to know if you find an alternative.

There are still Asian copies available new from Yesterford, they are about $200 a pair.  I *think* the ones you bought may be Ford Courier and Mazda B(?) ute.

When buying H4's there are 2 types of parking light, one has a hole drilled into the casing for a plug in globe, the other has a clear area about the size of a 10 cent coin in the reflector.  This type use a clip on holder for an external globe.

You could research Mazda 808, Austin Kimberley, VG Valiant, try ebay UK they should be plentiful over there.

Did a quick check on eBay for Torana and Valiant square headlights....zip, zilch , nothing...amazing !!!
Looked for Capri headlight
found   eBay item number:280759369230

Thought just occurred to me

Maybe the "wrong" ones in question are indeed for a Capri, but for the Convertible !!!!
They look about the same size from memory.

Did they have the park light hole?  Since the OP said the hole was in the pic but not in the light I assumed it was one of the current listings  Mine are the same bronze colour, with the white silicon around the glass, but no hole either.
Others are selling using the same pic, at half that price.
