How many RS31's?? i might be able to shed some light on that 1, i have details of 48, can confirm 38, with 2 going to NZ, 1 going to UK and 2 extra's from the UK coming here. they are coming out of the wood work, with my registar of the RS31, i dont want address, just the chassis number and a pics, no other details. It seems to put most owners at ease with just this info, and i dont want to know any more... maybe a open Capri registar, including all capri's (there aren't that many about any more) with just the chassis number and a pic of the car, and let the owners decided what other info they want to give...
Maybe we should get all the clubs in this registar, have a person in each state?
And make this public, to show we are not hiding anything, maybe a simple website..
I know that Newcastle has over 50 capri's in it, most hidden away...
Pm if anybody is keen, as i have mate that could set up a website.
Cheers Owen

It's surprising what is out there. I live in a small town and know of 4 with rumours of maybe 2 more. they range from a 1970 XL to a V6 GT to a 700 HP street legal V8 with my dressed up poverty pack as well.

These was a guy charging $5 to be on a capri register but sent nothing back in return.
When I questioned the validity of what he was doing, he claimed he had all the right to Ford Material on Capris and if I wanted access to it I need to pay!!! I'd mention his name but he'd probably sue.

Are we talking about the now defunct Capri Owners Register of Australia here or is it another Queenslander who was dealing in 'official' Ford literature, I'm curious now? PM me if you're shy Glenn!

Ok, now I know who we're talking about now, his initials are MF. I too have had 'dealings' with him some years back as he was trying to sell a supposed 'copyrighted' document about Capris, which included information that was clearly readily available from many, many other sources, yet he said he had the Ford copyright to it all! Poor fellow, he was in his own little dream world!

Anyway, moving on, I believe that any Capri register that is set-up MUST include the full prefix body and serial number for it to be of any worthwhile use, eg. CK17ME12345P. Without it, you can't differentiate between the cars! I base my beliefs on the Victorian State law which says that you can't legally advertise a car for sale without having either the registration number or the VIN (in the case of Capri's, pre-VIN), the Prefix Body and Serial number included in the advertisement. As registration numbers can, and often do, change, the full prefix body and serial number are therefore an essential part of any register.

Hi all, I have just created a very basic survey regarding peoples ideas of a registry
This is just to get some ideas on what people may think of a registry

i know of one Adelaide forum member that owns 2 v6gts, one restored (too a very high standard) and one awaiting resto.

i also know of someone else that has a very special 1970 v6 gt that was legally converted to a v8 (Windsor) in 1972 (or around then), and was driven yesterday, cool car as it has much more history and is well known locally for being a v8.

i can also think of 1 other  road going v6gt that has just come to Adelaide from Perth
all these cars have stripes v6 bonnets and all proudly display there original v6 graphics and livery

hope that info is of some help

Just completed the survey.....easy peasy.
Forgot to add that it might be worthwhile having something about the vehicles current status e.g. roadworthy, under resto, in storage, parts only.  Or simply 'Registered - Y/N' rather than actual rego num.
This would give an indication of those that are currently viable rather than 'one day some day' crazy ideas we all have  (I'm guilty!!)  We all tend to hoard these things for a rainy day.

I agree that any worthwhile register needs to include full VIN/Body to be truly effective. As with any database of information, the people contributing to it (or who have their details on it) need to be assured their information is safe. A big part of it will be giving people confidence that it's safe for their entire VIN number to be public.

I think the falcon GT guys have been discussing registers for years; this forum post from late 2003 covers many of the issues, and may be of interest: http://www.falcongtclub.o...e.aspx?MessageID=13586

I think if the experiences of other registers can be utilized, and a good number of cars can be entered onto the register early on, it would go a long way to giving people confidence in giving over the details of their pride and joy.

One thing I would say, as someone who isn't a car club member, is that the information needs to be public and easily accessible to all. If the only way I can access the info is by royal decree of some overly officious car club nazi (I'm not suggesting anyone here is like that), then I have no interest at all in giving over information about my cars.

Cheers
Jamie

Ok thanks to the quick responses regarding the survey. I will update it tomorrow with the revised points made and re-post the link.
