Progress so far. New Hilux/hiace diff housing has been manufactured, and painted. New bearings machined hubs, new long studs, new bearings to diff.
Rear wheel arches tubbed, fiberglass arches bonded and blended into the body, rear half of car resprayed awaiting rubbing and polishing
Boot stripped and resprayed in gloss white. Bonnet to be resprayed, boot lid resprayed and polished.

New koni front struts manufactured and painted. ready to be installed. Adjustable lower control arms, rack end extensions and reinforced and relocated lower control arm inner pivot point.

Just waiting on front gaurds.

Then to top it all off on Saturday I lowered the car off the jack and the door swung open and landed on the jack stand. resulting in a large bend to the bottom edge of the door as the door took the weight of the car. So now the drivers door needs repainting. Only part not the be painted is the passenger door and front half of roof and front apron.

Go black!! Would look mean as.

Very impressive front coilovers. Can you provide more info please? Off the shelf Koni or custom? Race only or for street too? Cost? Where?

JDS,

Thanks for the comments.
The Konis are off the shelf RX7 Adjustable sports (yellow) Konis. These are a good 45mm Shorter than the Mk2 escort ones and I believe capable of handling a stiffer spring (up to 300 pounds)
The Struts were cut off at the standard spring land and a hole drilled into the base of the tube for the bolt. I had to weld three spots inside the tube to centralise the insert as the inside diameter of the tube is smaller than the RX7 by about 1mm and the inserts knocked.
The coilovers are made for Koni by a local (Australia) outfit. They have Koni part numbers. The threaded sleave is steel with an integral weld ring at the base. The spring lands are high grade anodised aluminium. I had to make up a 20mm outside diameter 18mm inside diameter sleve to locate the strut top over the piston. This was done with a 10mm long length of 20x1 tube.
Total cost was $475 for the inserts $200 for the coilover parts, $5 for machining a 20mm hole in the center of the top coil land.
and about $3.5 of epoxy paint. I had the springs but these range from $120-$200 depending on where you go and who you know.
These were purchased through SA's local koni distributor/rep.
They have given me another 45 mm travelover the Previous set of coliovers (which are for sale)

Good luck
