Have attached a photo of my 1970 V6 as well as a couple of the shed it will soon be housed in(I hope!!)
My wife and I move from WA to SA 9 years ago and the car stayed stored in a garage at our Perth house which we were renting out. Unfortunately it sustained some cosmetic damage, a few dents, scratches etc. from people entering the shed, putting things on the car etc. no respect. I had used the car in the Perth Classic Rally a number of times in the 90's and really since that time it hadn't been use much at all. I'd made a few mods to compete in the rally, lowered front coils, negative camber, ventilated discs and a higher horsepower motor. Recently, before the car was shipped to SA the original motor, which was laying on the shed floor for many years, was completely rebuilt and refitted and I'm currently working on returning the car to stock standard. Luckily apart from the few mods I made for the rally the car is very original, interior is untouched and in very good condition, I think because I've owned it since 1982 there hasn't been an opportunity for anyone to butcher it. Those with eagle eyes will notice the different sized tyres front and back, these have been put on as a temporary measure until I can acquire some Rostyles or Contessas for it. If not I will continue to use the wheels on it with new tyres.
Once I finish the new shed I will have a decent place to work on the car as the current shed at my son's place, which is where it's now kept, is very cramped and not really suitable for any major work. The concrete floor is the last piece of new shed to be completed. This is the last shed I will be building, it nearly killed me!!! I am very excited about moving in though.
This gives a little history of the car, I'll probably have a lot more questions and requests once I get back to Australia and start working on the car again (We're currently on hols in Thailand, heading to Russia tomorrow, back end of July). As I've said before I'm amazed at the amount of knowledge and expertise of the members of this forum and hope to use some of it for my car, hopefully I can give something in return. I don't feel quite so isolated now that I can communicate with fellow Capri enthusiasts.

Great story Timmo...............and I love that shade of blue. You're so lucky to have owned your beautiful Capri since 1982 !  Glad to see you kept the original Engine to go back in....... Was it born a V6 from day 1 ?
Can't see if it's manual or automajic ?  ...........  that great shed is enough for 4 Capris !

The car is an original V6 bought new from Morley Ford in Melbourne and I still have the original owner's manual and service book. I remember speaking to the original owner when I bought it, that was 35yrs ago, time flies!! it's still got the original Morley Ford sticker on the back window, not bad for 47 years!! It's a manual and the colour is French Blue. The original colour was Diamond White.
As I mentioned in another thread I'm desperate for a windscreen washer bottle if anyone can help???

Makes me nauseous to think of how many priceless parts like that WASHER BOTTLE got crushed at recyclers :-(
Wasn't yours still good back in 1982 ? ....what happened to it ?  ....disintegrated I'll bet with Ozzie heat  :-(
My Capri came with its original bottle and connecting bits in VGC and I can only put it down to having spent the last 20 years or more in a cold part of Vic called Ballarat.(15 years of which was "laid up" in its Ballarat barn)
I'm going to speak to a Plastics Manfctr that has his w/shop next to my Car Repair Shop, about re-producing the bottle. I don't hold much hope as I had a NIB GT Grille for a Falcon XB GT which he sadly informed me out of pocket expenses would be $30,000 just to make the dies & "set up" with me doing all the technical & computer work! ..........or $60,000 if I wasn't capable and a tech was hired !
Re your Capri in storage where the" tenants showed little respect", I had the same experience with my first car (I got when I was 17 decades ago), where I stored it at a clients spare garage, and ALL my door cards were stolen ! .....Genuine GMH 1957 FE sedan Trims in perfect condition :-(     I console myself with the thought they could have taken a lot more, or even the WHOLE CAR, which was, and still is in VGC..................so like you, I'm desperate for 4 vgc GENUINE door trims (don't want repros)..........any colour will do, but one that blends with green paint would be good. Orig ones were 2 tone green/black. I will re-paint with vinyl spray if theyre too far mismatched.

Nice to see another survivor.  Are you going to also go back to the foot pump for the washer?  Sure they are original but you wont know when it starts leaking until some damage is done and you cant rest your foot on it.  If not then might as well not worry about the bottle being correct.  Depends if you are going for concourse or not.  Will you be going back to original white?

My washer bottle only recently disintegrated and so I still have the foot pump and associated plastic tubing in place and so I would like to replace the bottle and leave the foot pump in place. I also have a couple of other pumps that I have picked up over the years. It pains me to see the vacant space where the bottle should be. If I have no luck with the original I was thinking of an after market bottle with an electric pump, with the pump some how hidden and a switch mounted in the original floor pump so that the hidden electric pump would be operated by foot. Don't want to mount any non standard switches on the dash. The car will never be concourse, I drive it too much and I'm not that interested in shows etc. I have a friend who has 2 concourse winning series 1 E Types, the amount of work and money that goes into those cars is incredible and with the cost of some Capri parts these days we wouldn't be that far behind!!!
I think I'll keep the blue, I like it and a complete, properly done colour change is a big job as I found out last time. I don't want to offend anyone but I've never liked Diamond White, I think very few cars look REALLY GOOD in white, just a personal opinion.

I changed mine to electric years ago so I will have a look in the shed for the old bottle.
 
I moved my headlight switch to the dash facia so I have headlight, spotlight, dash lights and wipers in the 4 spots.  I reversed the dash light switch so that it lines up with the others when left in the on position.  I then fitted another wiper switch where the headlight switch was and wired my washer pump to it.  Foot pump was ditched leaving a nice space for a foot rest.

Thanks, would appreciate it if you could have a look. I have a rear window demister and that switch takes up what would have been the vacant position on the dash. I'm really quite keen to have the original washer set up back in place for some reason.
