After running my engine in i've dropped the oil and changed the coolant and checked the valve clearance. It was sounding a bit tappety. So i've gone and checked everything and adjusted to the spec. but its still really noisy.... am i targeting the wrong issue or just not used to the pinto's noises yet?

From memory should be 10 thou on the inlet and 12 thou on the exhaust, but in the past to get them quieter on a noisy one I have dropped then another 2 though to 8 and 10....  But then need to check when engine is very hot too to check you still have what you thought you had earlier... Dont want to burn a valve...
 
If you are not used to Pinto's then they sound really clattery compared to especially modern engines...

Thanks mate. I'll give it a run up to temp then have another check. I did lose a bit of time after brought it to temperature last time when i removed my valve cover so it had cooled down considerably. Thanks again!
