Rolls Royce Merlin engine would be close and is 27L, but that is a V12..... Does not rev though... but 3000hp would be quite useable with mountain ranges of torque...

Just saw 5th gear episode with an SD1 with a 27L Merlin engine in it... 160mph with 2000rpm only......[:p]
