time has come. wedding coming up, need a wedding car. rs been off the road for two years. bout time for a birthday.
not sure where to start...
plan was to fix everything that needed fixing, reuse stuff that was good, and not touch body work or paint.
so far we have new:- springs, shocks, discs, pads, shoes, wheel bearings, rose joints, brake lines, wheel cylinders, various bushes, radiator, all hoses, fuel lines,
and recoed:- alternator, starter, distributor(electronic), master cylinder, instrument cluster, diff, carby,
also rewired engine bay and fitted relays and better fuse box. currently building engine and mandrel exhaust with group1 manifold. seats currently getting freshen up, new carpets and underlay, door cards with no holes. repairs to trans tunnel needed where a butcher was let loose once.
heck...
funny how things get outta control. expected less stuff to be knackered. needed more work than anticipated.
anyways, will update soon.
cheers.
jase.

HAHAHA. this sounds like the same problem i have, why half do a job when for 10 times the cost and a couple of years extra you can do it properly.[%][:x)][:x)].
My project was also ment to be my wedding car but with 2 1/2 weeks to go there is no chance in hell.[:-(][:-(]
Good luck with the resto.

i have finally made some progress. i seem to spent heaps of time in the shed, but make little progress. why is this???

i have most of the engine parts back from the machine shop. just doing a dummy fit to work out compression ratio and then have the bottom end balanced. after that, the reassembly.

i am using a new piston on the market (so the shop tells me). it uses a 1mm top ring as oppposed to a 2mm. trouble is i can't get rings till just before christmas. i just hope its worth the wait.

i have acquired some sierra rods so i will make good use of those.

i have finished porting the head, the seats have now been cut, with hardened exhaust seats fitted. the photo is of roughing the ports in. chewed up more time than i expected just in porting work.

i have trial fitted the underlay and carpets. the seats came back from the upholster shop yesterday. they just need a final steam clean before refitting. they also reglued the door trims for me. it will be nice not have have speaker holes in the front doors.

i finished it about a week before the wedding. enough time for a wheel alignment and a relax. since then i have only racked up about 700km. and so far, nothing has fallen off. a minor clutch fork issue saw the box out and in last week, but thats about all.
some of the finished product..

you wouldn't believe how much trouble it was to secure 3 others. the white 2 door hasnt been on the road for 5 years or more. the week before the wedding i detailed it for the owner to make it look respectable. the red 2 door we reassembled the week before wedding after the respray, and the red 4 door is a weekender.

Very nice to have the RS's in your wedding, I wanted to but just didn't have enough time[8~2][8~2].
Your car came up great. Congrats and on the wedding.
I see 4 more RS2000's for the register[%][%].
