Hello everyone,

Im at present working on a MK1 Escort Panelvan (8CWT Deluxe) and having trouble finding seats and dash trim that suit it.

I have a set of seats from a MK1 Escort Coupe installed at present however they don't seem to fold forward enough to get the spare tire out which is located behind the passengers seat. Did the Panelvans have different style seats that folded forward more? What seats have others installed into their Panelvans?

With the dash trim I have a cigarette lighter, a switch for the window squirters and manual choke. Question with this is, was the choke ever originally located in the dash for any MK1 Escort? I have only ever seen them located in the under dash part where all your buttons are.

There is very little information on the net about MK1 Escorts and their options especially the Panelvans so any help would be much appreciated. I would love to speak to anyone who knows their Escorts since I would love to learn as much about them as possible.

Cheers

I have a pic here of the interior in my panelvan. The dash trim has been cut to fit a CD player which I later relocated, the center console has been cut to fit a MK2 steering column surround which I replaced and now left with that huge gap, and a temp gauge has been installed into the center console.
You can see the window squirter switch located in the dash but can anyone tell me if its standard or not? I have seen a pic on the net of a MK1 Escort with the exact same switch however only seen one and cant find it again. I have a close up pic of the switch, also got a pic of a dash trim which might be suited but unsure, I've noticed the distance between the lighter and the switch is different.
The choke can also bee seen located in the dash behind the steering wheel but I had the understanding that MK1 Escorts had their chokes located in the center console.
Can anyone else see anything else that might not be standard or looks odd?
and while Im here can anyone tell me what made 8CWT Deluxe vans different from other MK1 Escort vans?

Thanks heaps, I appreciate the help

I have a Mk2 Escort panel van as my daily which is absolutely standard.

The passengers seat definitely needs to be removed to get the spare wheel out, even when the seat is slid fully forward.
The modern 175 series profile tyres even with the original 13 inch steel wheels is too large to get clearance at the rear of the seat.
I recall the 165 series tyres just made it.

Can anyone identify this seat because it moves completely forwards and I'm able to get the spare wheel in and out with it installed but I took it out of my van to put original style seats in without realizing that I cant get my spare wheel out now.

If I can get the same style seat but drivers side I might be able to install them both into the van in exchange for the original seats, other option is to keep the original seats but get a space saver wheel.

What are peoples suggestions?

Are you sure about this? I have never seen a MK1 Escort seat like this. This seat has a little leaver thing on the side as you can see in the pic which allows the entire back of the seat to fold forwards till its flat.

If this seat can be verified as a original MK1 Escort seat I'll keep it in the van. Do you know if the same style seat was ever on the drivers side as well?
