Thats a damm precise bird with a steady diet of steel filings.

Thing that takes me the longest is getting the welder to the right setting, i just turn it wherever until it starts to come out good haha
i don't really know what each one does it also a problem

That's alright Phil, having made my own 4 link boxes as well I know how bloody difficult it is to weld in such confined spaces! I reckon you've done alright...

And to top it off, I've decided that mine were a bit light so I'm in the process of double skinning them! [V]

Yeah it is hard to weld in there isnt it[;^)]What thickness material did you use for the boxes Simon?I am double skining the bolt hole area for the arms. This section of the box is made from 1.6mm sheet.

I will second that about it being hard to weld it all up. I made mine link boxes from 1.6mm plate with a double thickness at the bolt hole. So far it hasnt even looked like moving.

phil what sort of welding are you using. i'm not a pro but i find when welding in such small space gas mig with .6 wire as it's only thin sheet also you can turn the gas back a fare bit as you are in a confined space. also i have found i weld much better since i brought an auto darkening helmet.

just my 2.2 cents

Phil, How are you making up the turrets for the shocks?? Will they be turret tubes like i have done or more like Allans set up??
I have used 4" exaust tube, cut up both sides and inserted a wedge to alow the shock moe room to move back and forward with the suspention geometry but i have only got between 5-8mm each side. Nothing hits but it is tight.

When I made mine the most appropriate material we had at work was 1.4mm sheet, which I also double skinned around the holes. To be honest, once welded into the floor pan it probably would have been fine, but as Hilux diffs aren't exactly the lightest things I figured it was probably better to be safe than sorry and am now spot/stitch welding a full second skin onto them. I'll post some photos when they're done if you like.

It is looking good. Good to see there is some progress under way.
Don't ask about my cars though....[V][:(!]

web2299,Im pretty sure youve hit the nail on the head.Im just rusty

Darnoldrs,corty's have factory turrets[:x)]

Simon, yeah 1.4 does seem that bit to thin[:0][;^)]I plan to make the arm covers out of 1.2mm to keep the weight down[%][;^)]
