but anyways after alot of freaking with the timing she started and ran on her own which is a huge step!!! gave up on spark for now half way thru the night, will eventually come back to it.
there are a few issues we noticed while she was running they are:
a freak load of oil came out and on to the floor, and from a brief look it seems that it all cam from the dip stick where it wasn't pushed in right, is there any other reason besides that oil may piss out on the right had side of the motor?
and my second which is my main drama is my oil breather on top of the rocker cover is forsing large amounts of air out? and on more than a occasion amouunts of splattered oil aswell.......WHY?? is there a set reason for this?
The dipstick is certainly a place for oil to come out, on the engine I just built I have the oil pressure line right next to it, so check that for being in nice and tight and also no damage to the line. It actually sends oil all the way up to the dash, i found this out when the connection at the dash failed on my RS once previously.
As for the oil breather, sounds like the PCV isn't working right, it should be regulating block pressure, not the oil filler cap / breather. Check the vacuum setup in the car, soak the PCV in fuel, sounds like the block is pressurising and forcing air out the top to me.
Good luck with it all, my RS engine started for the first time today and had to troubleshoot a few small ones too.
