Hey guys, thought I'd show off my beast-to-be
been rusting out in a paddock for the last 10-15years
i rescued it early this year for $150 and stripped all running gear and interior out in prepreation for full restoration/customisation.

Plans:
one piece rear door, swinging upwards
shave all panels of handles, locks, vent, etc
mk1 works bubble arches (wheel arches are stuffed, so i have to cut them out anyway)
cossie twin turbo
custom side lining in cargo area with 10" subs (not sure how many yet)
custom taillights
delete 1/4 windows

front view:

end product (only one side modified)

if anyone wants a 1300gt and four speed manual box, a 1300 diff or anything else i might not use/need/want, ask me.

more pics to come

might be more than enough, but i don't intend to drive it often. I'm looking at it purely as a show car/ advertising device at the moment. It's still early stages, and ideas change and evolve.

I haven't been able to finish the door off yet, as the Sundowner is undergoing a couple of repairs/ touch ups, which is sort of taking priority.

Quick photoshop.... I think it's going to look good. Is it going to be yellow or blue?

I fiddled with making it blue but the picture quality makes the hue shading look horrendous, but only on BLUE!! [88]

Haven't decided on a color yet. When I see a color I like, I take a picture, and file it. When it comes time to paint, I'll choose which one I like most. It's likely that I'll be changing color when I get sick of looking at it. Nice photoshop, if I had any reasonable skill with that kind of thing, I'd have tried it myself. The sunny stickers and bubble windows won't be on it, they're only there because I used a picture of my other van.

more fiddling.... photoshop practice for me [;^)]

I tried a kind of candy apple red... Lowered it too, it was a rushed job so it could look better if done with proper care. [:I]

Just looking at these photoshops makes me wanna run out and do more to it [:p]. The door is going to be shaved for a clean, smooth look, so most likely I'll re-enforce the top part of the opening, and swing it up. Only major difficulty is going to be making it "pop" before swinging, as there is a gutter to contend with...

Saw this on eBay... Haven't given a great deal of thought about what I'm going to do the front, so maybe this is an option?

Finished the temp support frame for the rear door. Then I decided to rip some paint off to see what I had to contend with, rust wise (yes, I am going to strip the whole lot, but not till after the two are one). Not as bad as I initially thought, the huge amount of filler just amplified the bubbles. Can't wait to see what the guards look like, as I'm certain it was in a fight with a tank. And the tank won... I have an attack plan, though, and I'm not going to jump the gun. Don't want to risk missing any detail.

that door rust doesn't look that bad actually. Only a couple of bits along the seal area. Should be fairly easy to replace.
