So it looks average but the only rust that needs to be repaired is behind the headlight on both sides, all the rest is surface only and will be gone with the scourer wheel (my new best friend), after towing it home we put a battery and some fuel in it and bugger me 2nd kick it fired up ! running on all 6 of the non crossflow's cylinders !

List of jobs at the moment is:
Repair rust behind headlights
Repaint Wheels(Beige)/Chassis(Black)/Cab(BRG)(in&out)
New tyres 14" 8 ply commercial's (nice and cheap)
Remove and refit engine after paint and clean up/Dress up
Recondition brakes
Fit seat covers for rego

Future mods after rego include:
Bolt on tray extension to fit a escort on the back so I can tow 2 at once
Bench seat so I can have 3 up front as its is a dash board shift manual !

Mate - what's the story on that Marina in the back ground (was that the sports model from 1975 ish?) - talk about a rare beast (?). You don't see them around any more - even harded to find then a Capri or Mk 2 Cortina. Fortunately no one is looking for them.

Got it in one David, we pinched the 1 3/4 SU off it and want to offload it, its not to my tastes and it has some pretty bad rust but it has some pretty good features for being an early 70's car like factory alloy rocker cover over a OHC 1500 ??? with Alloy sump. It runs same stud pattern as escort but thats about where the similarities end as it has torsion bar front suspension and is a bit heavier built in the bodyshell.

Took it to the Gunnedah swap meet and had no interest at all, but as my mate keeps saying if you have a marina and you need a tail light or a windscreen where are you gonna get one ? Anyway it will go one day just gotta find someone who needs it.

This Sunday we;
- Stripped the wiring and fuel hoses from the chassis
- Wirewheeled or scourer pad'd the whole chassis ready for paint
- Pulled the rear brakes apart to find that 2 shoes need replacing, one wheel cylinder is siezed and we were missing a stud on the p/s side.

Pictures tonight.

That looks like a VERY tidy truck... and I'm not being sarcastic. As you've said it's going to need very little work to make it look presentable.

Good find! [:x)]

Thanks Rowan, we will be starting on the cab this weekend. Have just picked up new wheel cylinders and shoes for the rear, plus got a couple of new brake lines made as there were a couple that were a little crimped looking.

Yeah it will be really cool with a tidy up.. You planning to sand back and varnish the wood in the tray? Thats one of the best looks for old trucks IMO. You keeping it white? I would, will look really good.

andrew

ps If you do use it for a weekly pallet of beer you may find progress on your other projects slows down [:x)]

Andrew, doing wood sides for the tray with a bit of stain and estapol truck will be painted british racing green and wheels will be an off-white beige colour, there is a book all about transits and there is one in there very similar so I know its gonna look good.

and about the beer, I picked more up today and as there is a long weekend coming up it was 2 pallet's and about 20 cartons of cask wine/bottles ! when I get to the depot the have a forklift and its on a pallet but I have to take each carton individually and load it into the box trailer ! Painful.
