I'm finally in the last stage of putting the new 1600 together for my Cortina. The new motor has:
Ported and shaved head with heavy duty valve springs
Cosworth steel crank
.060" over size pistons with 11:1 compression
Electronic ignition
Wade performance cam, nothing too radical but some added balls
Twin 45mm carbies
Lightened flywheel and heavyduty clutch and pressure plate

Although it's been in the making for quite some time now I've actually got off my butt and gone and got all the bits and pieces I needed. Shouldn't be too long now, just have to trust in my ability to put it together properly.

I should be getting close to a 100hp at the wheels. However, we'll see what the 1/4 mile and dyno have to say as to that. It should be a really solid reliable motor with some balls which is what I'm after.

Received the Linkages and Manifold from England last weekend and fitted them, really good quality stuff. Also received the cam (profile 446) and springs from Wade on Wednesday. Going out to Bathurst this afternoon to pick up the dry sump pump, sump and other bits and pieces. Getting block back on Tuesday with new 020" thou liners and 1640cc BDG crank. Start assembly on Friday with any luck.
Will post more pics soon.

That should be a potent little beast when it's all done.

Yeah thats what alot of people have said. The only problem is now I have to get the car to handle now. But thats what makes it so much fun having these old girls.

Yep I'm having that problem, it's quick as hell, but the old king springs aren't up to the job any more [88]

Heres a few more parts I picked up yesterday. They look like they're in pretty good condition. And the rocker cover isn't genuine it's a repro but still looks the goods.

Started assembly yesterday. Put together the bottom end yesterday all went in really nicely, wouldn't like to have to do this by myself cause the second set of hands was a big help. The head assembled easily cause all the parts have been well prepped which is nice bonus. Just a few pics of the motor so far.
