Hi All, just returned home to Renmark SA after spending the weekend at Geelong. Went to Geelong for two reasons, one to complete a deal with Deano for a set of Contessas, thanks Dean they'll soon be on the car!!! And secondly to have a look at the sprints and hillclimb. Saw 3 Capris at these events, there were two in the Friday night cruise, an orange 69 with a 2L Pinto fitted, quite a tidy car with a very nice, enthusiastic young owner and a white 2.8i Mk3 (didn't talk to the owner). On Saturday I noticed a lime green RS3100 parked near the hillclimb. It was slightly modified with gold bumpers and wipers and I was wondering if it belonged to anyone on this Forum and whether it was a genuine RS3100?
Also saw one of the most bizzare and frightening motor racing accidents in the Saturday sprints. Wife and I were standing fairly close to the finish when a late model Audi came past us at a breakneck speed. It's a strange feeling when you know something is going to end badly and there is nothing you can do about it, he hit the water barriers at the end of the course head on and semi launched into the air and continued into the next two rows of barriers before stopping against the side of a truck positioned to stop anyone breaking through the barriers. It was a MASSIVE accident and to see the driver get out and walk away was amazing, says something for the safety of modern cars and the effectiveness of the water filled barriers. I just don't understand how it could have happened though, maybe he was looking at the dash of something, lost concentration at the worst moment, costly accident though I believe it was a $280K car. Enjoyed the weekend even though Geelong turned on the water works on Sunday!!

The green RS is a real one don't think he's here though.  A white 2.8i I have met him but not seen him for a couple of years

The reason I asked about the RS3100 is that one of the things I noticed was that the rear spoiler appeared to be pop riveted to the boot lid. I don't know a lot about how the RS3100 is put together but that didn't seem to be the best way to attach a spoiler?? But then maybe Ford know better than me and I'd still swap my first born for one!!

I have seen several different ways the RS spolier is attached, one with small screws and one with double sided tape.  I had not noticed the pop rivets on his one though

Yes they should be attached by 4 hidden bolts

That RS has had a lot of subsequent work done to it. It has been hit hard in the snout from memory and runs pre facelift (4cyl) inner guards and extra ID tags
(Should be Modena green?)

You guys really are a fountain of knowledge. The reason I asked about the RS3100 is that if I owned one I'm sure I wouldn't paint the bumpers and wipers gold. The dash has been painted black with extra switches added as well. Everyone to themselves though.
