Hey all, just wondering if any-one has some ideas on what may be causing the front end on my mk2 escort to 'clunk' over speed bumps etc. I've put a poly bush kit throughout and replaced the tie rod ends and control arms etc. I've also put new Gas shocks and King springs and replaced the strut tops with the adjustable spherical bearing type. I know I shouldn't have, but I cut a coil off the spring as the ride height was increased with the new strut tops. could this cause the issue ? any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance

Sounds like your springs are binding up and the noise is the coils hitting each other.

May also be you didn't do the gland nut on the strut tight enough and the shocks sre moving inside the struts.

Cutting springs is not the best idea especially as a new set of springs are quite cheap.

Cheers

yeah thanks matt, I did the gland nuts up nice and tight. I know I shouldn't have chopped them but it was sitting way too high, ill pop the old springs back in and see if that solves the issue, cheers.

Sometimes even though the gland nut is up tight the shock is not seated properly and you may need a few washers under the shock to raise it up to take out the movement.

Good luck
