I totally agree.
I have been employed as a professional in the manufacturing industry since 1980.
In this time the industry has been slowly decimated due to cheaper imports.
Once I employed several people, who took home wages, fed their children, and bought Australian made products.
Now I have no employees because the small volume of work.
Several years ago my customers chose to import cheaper components rather than manufacture here. Today most of these former customers no longer exist, or they are in financial difficulties.
Australians will live in interesting times.
But in the end we are all to blame.
We have all accepted the cheaper products for our short term gain, and not considering the long term and the consequences.
Fortunately I have no children.

I will always buy local where possible, supercheap listed uprated bushes for my mk1 think they were approx $200, and a 2 week wait (according to the pimple teenager texting his missus at the time) so I went home ordered some from ebay uk @$40 delivered to my door within 5 days.
Then wanted some sparkplugs for my cossie, did the ground work and went into local suppliers with the specs required, after waiting for hours was told they were 90 odd dollars EACH! went home got on burtons website few quid each and delivered in 3 days!
I have used burtons now a few times and found them quick and easy to deal with, there items are of good quality and delivered promptly, i would reccommend them to anyone.

Just my two pennies worth!
