I just went back & fixed all my image links so now you can see all the photos of my hard work! Looking back on it, this has been a long, stressful & fun project. Couldn't have done it without the help of my good friend Dave. The van's still going strong, I've replaced my manifold & it's going a heap better. Maintaining idle & seems to have more balls. I def. need to get the ignition system fixed. My spark is sooo weak it's crazy. I'm preparing it for a run down the quart in April so it'll be done by then. I'm also steps closer to following through with my denim interior. Stay tuned.

Installed my brand spankin' electronic ignition last night. The acceleration is so smooth & my spark is a lot better. I'm happy driving it now, knowing I'm not punishing the engine with sheetty timing. Although, I need to go get it properly tuned, first gear still seems to rev a whole bunch & not really go all that far... except if I plant the foot & open up the second barrel. COZ

Cheers, I've had a few other issues here & there but all in all the van's doing well as a daily driver / project car, which can be kinda hard to balance. Any work I do over the weekend has to be at a point that I can drive it to work come Monday morning. Although, the girlfriend has a new job which leaves her car at home during the week, this opens up all kinds of possibilities. Recently I have; fitted a quickshifter, thrown on a K&N air filter I'd been hunting down for yonks, had 2 engine tunes ( one useless, the other worthwhile ), a compression test ( healthy as ), got my speedo working ( which then broke again ), fitted a replacement driver's side door after someone was kind enough to u-turn into my parked car & drive off, & finally I have started sanding & prepping the body for new paint. The next few months will be spent finding and elimintating any rust. Terrible stuff.

Looking forward I'd like to; fit a dif with a different ratio, fit my electric choke, fit a new gearbox & have my clutch checked over... and maybe a new exhaust system. Pics soon. COZ

Well! Fiiiiiiinally got around to fixing up the rust above my driver's side rear wheel arch. Took the good part of Saturday, a slab of beer, burnt neck and a bottle of Maker's to get it close to ready for final paint. Summer here we come.

Next bits I'm going to attack are the front windscreen pillars, rain sills and then all the bumps & bruises. Also decided I'm going for black acid wash denim for the interior theme, real early eighties muscle car bogan stuff.

Good effort Coz, gota hate the slurry, all over the tyre and rim. Don't let it sit there too long or it will stain or be hard to get off.

(Slurry....if above sentence sounds bit weird, is the mix of paint, bog etc and water that runs down panel after sanding and wet/dry rub)--A painter could word that much better.

So are you giving it a full respray or touching up areas that your de-rusting?

Ha... yeah, my definition of slurry is a little different. I gave the van a good scrub not long after those pics. I'll be doing a full re-spray once I've taken all the rust out, you can see the new colour in the engine bay on the first page of this post. Being a sundowner I'm planning on re-doing all the black paint too ( around front & rear windows etc. ) & maybe the bonnet. Can't wait to get the new colour on but as last week taught me there's a bit of time in the prep.
