Glenn, if you're still after those door locks, I'll make my way to Hillside this week & grab them.

Well fark me, the engine went in today! Crazy. Everything went to so well, extractors & all, just had one of those lucky days I guess. Only problem we had... it wouldn't start. Ha. It was a little late in the night to try & figure out what's gone wrong but I thought I'd ask around here for suggestions...

We're thinking it's the starter motor ( for obvious reasons ) but that same starter came from a running van... mine. When you turn the key, you can hear the 'knock' noise of the starter bit moving out... but then no juice. From there we tried different combos for wiring it up but with no luck. Any clues as to what could be wrong? Thanks guys. I should probably post this in the 'help' section too. Cheers.

Ha. Yeah, I talked to it real good. "WHY WONT YOU START!? START GODAMN!" Turns out a few factors were at play.

1. Engine wouldn't start.... solenoid on the starter motor was faulty. FIXED.
2. No fuel getting to the engine... mechanical fuel pump had been removed in re-build of engine. Installed electric pump ( thanks JET-6 ). FIXED.
3. Clutch cable issues. FIXED-ISH.
4. Battery not charging while engine was running. Faulty alternator. FIXED.
5. Red hot, melted brake line. Replace & move brake line away from extractors. FIXED.

Now I'm back on the road! Just need a good tune, bend the extractors away from the floor ( the knocking gets real annoying after a while ) & get myself a replacement alternator... one of the screw holes on my current one has snapped off & I don't trust the washer we've used to keep it in place.

Next on the list is to paint & re-attach the heater dome, then a total re-spray! Thanks to everyone who answered my questions & helped out with parts etc. it's much appreciated. Pics soon. Cheers.

Nah, not really. Had a few problems here & there. I've had the carby totally reco'd, which was good, but I still feel like the car is being let down somewhere. The more I know about the engine, the more concerned I've become about how it's running. My focus has moved from how it looks, to how it runs. Still need to move the extractors from the floor, still need to fit the heater dome, still need a new alternator, still needs a re-spray! Before I tackle any of that I want to replace my dizzy with an electric version, replace my manifold - then I'm back on the re-spray & interior. Grand plans! Cheers. COZ
