A mate and i have found a toy to keep us busy and on the track on a budget. She was found in Gunnedah NSW in a paddock and hadnt been driven since 1981. Its a 1966 Mk1 Cortina Airflow 220 with a 1300 HC engine (681 block)
Plan is to prep her for hillclimb and track and maybe run a hot big valve 1500 GT spec engine and give her Gulf GT40 colours.
Should be a short term project as we have most of the good stuff in the shed.
Plan:
1500 GT engine
escort 4 speed box
4.1:1 diff
Remove all non required items (Race car diet)
A set of widened steel rims
small fuel cell
lowered down to grass height
side exhaust
Hell of a lot of knuckle rash.[88]

Yep, thats the colours. Should look great when done. A real little nostalgic boy racer. We believe she was only pushed out of a shed into the paddock recently because the underneath is perfect and the only rust is at the bottom of the rear quarters. Shes even pretty straight.

What an awesome find and a great start to a project. Don't suppose there are any more of these gems lying around up Gunnedah way?

Very nice find. The only things I see sitting in paddocks up here are very, very rusty.

Should be a lot of fun when finished, love the colour choice.

Yep, she was a good find. But im sorry guys, we didn't find any others. Next trip.[V] We bought it from looking at photos. It was only by word of mouth that it was found. Was only a parts car initially then we saw its condition.[:u]
Here is some photos from under her. Has no floor rust, no door rust, no plenum rust, only at the bottom of the rear guards. Externally has only surface rust due to faded old paint. A case of some good sanding, wire brushing, and sand blasting. Will be pretty straight forward to get her on the track.

Oh and its missing its front and rear windows from kids smashing them a few weeks prior to us finding it. Little Buggers[:(!]
