I've had my MKII RS gauges out, and looking at the circuit board on the back, was wondering what the RS light at centre bottom in the turn signal light row is there for?
It seems to be wired to something but I don't think I've ever seen mine come on in all the years I've had the car.
Does it serve any purpose????

Nah, it's not high beam.
Mine has left indicator, high beam, RS light, charge, right indicator.

From Ford factory does nothing.
Some people wire to lights to remind themselves they are driving their RS at night.

Ha, nice one Peter!!
Yeah I always presumed it was a dummy light, but the circuits on the back looked like it connected to something.
Might have to hook it up.

I use the RS light as a shift light on my RS.
Cheers

I guess if you had the light connected when you switched on lights, it would have to be dimmed somewhat so it wouldn't blind you!
By the way what colour is it?

That's the first time I have heard someone accuse the Escort of having bright instrument lights!

I wired the RS light to come on with the spotties..., but the 2 original RS dashes I have had did not even have globes in the holders for the RS light...

Hey Matt, don't accuse my of that outlandish claim!!! The actual brightness of Escort gauges are never spoken of outside this forum!!

I finally got my LEDs from Hong Kong, they look great but I still can't even see the oil pressure gauge at night.
I'm thinking I might put in some more LEDS around the gauge cluster to brighten it up!

My RS light has a globe and all. It must have been there since the car was new.
