Mk1 Lotus
Why not just buy MK1 vans? there around, you'd be better off putting the money into fixing the rust and painting them than converting a mk2 van that will have the same amount of rust and need paint into a mk1.

I'm sure you'll need some dollars to fit A/C as well I don't think your guys would that happy about going from a nice A/C hiace or similar into a sweet box panel van.

Reliability is just how regular you keep services up to it and tax benefits i don't really care to much about, if i earn it i have to pay it just like everybody else. Please I'm not being arrogant I've had enough of all this propaganda of leasing vehicles not owning them. At least they will be mine and I don't have to find an extra $1500 dollars a month for vehicles for my team (500 per vehicle)

Plus most people in my generation don't really know how to fix there cars if something goes wrong because its all ECU controlled. Simplicity works for me, I'll leave diagnosis for work.

In Tas it doesn't really get hot enough for a AC so they can just open the window, my team will appreciate the older cars too.

2.0l would be the way to go too? what's your thoughts people

its a nice thought to just buy mk1 vans but there getting pretty scarce wheras mk2s are everywhere.cant imagine alot in tasmania in particular.do it,as in the long run it would be better then leasing and you can easily fix them.

g'day Trav

Im an elec contractor, as well. What kind of KM per year are your guys doing? What style of work?
I have been through the lease is best bullpoo poo and now own all of our vans (5) + my poverty pack ute. I have 3x townace, 1x gen 2 Vito, 1x econovan, 1x FG ute with service body. As much as the guys say they will look after them... I bet they wont. Even my best guy has dented the Vito and cant seem to remember how it happened.
Why not XF panel vans or XH's? Bigger, more comfortable etc. Why not even try old Toyota Hiace utes with the newer style service bodies (they work very well!) and you can lift them off when you want to swap vehicles (that's what I do).
I love the idea of an Escort van but for marketing fun reasons only.
Good luck.
