hi everyone this is my 1980 rs 2000 a looong term project. well so far the car has been stripped down and i am in the process of putting it on the rotisserie (trying to work out mounting points and center lines) the car is factory black but has been resprayed in a very glossy 2-pak i have found some rust in various places and i want to remove the sun roof this is just the beginning of a long journey!! i will add some more pics soon. this site will be a big source of motivation thanks. lots of nice machines!!

looks good mate i have measurements for a jig that fits Escorts when i find it il post it up.

i was going to mount the rear of the car through the bumper but i have dummy fitted the jig and the Panel has quite a lot of flex just under the pressure i apply! dont know if i would trust the whole weight of the car!

yeah i dont think that will be a great place to mount it from might be a little sketchyy. alot of jigs that i have seen mount to the chassis so there will be no movement.

Yes, I came to the same conclusion that the bumper mounts were too weak to take the car although the Mk1's seem to fair better.

I mounted mine to the rear spring mounts and the front sway bar mounts in the chassis rails. Was rock solid and allowed 100% access to the shell.

I have since passed on the jig.......but I can supply some images if needed.

the spring mounts look good i may have to drop into work today and do a bit more fab. if you can find pics that would be great
