Cheers guys
As of yesterday the car is driving again Not tuned fully yet so I've only driven within what is tuned, which is up to about 70% throttle and up to 4000 rpm. Already it is very quick, can't wait to see how it is fully tuned.

It runs and idles beatifully, way smoother than the pinto but still makes great noise, both induction and exhaust [:p]

Hi Andrew,

all this frantic work on the Zetec is probably why you missed the club meeting eh?

Just kidding--email if you are going to be home on Sunday and I'll come down and have a look if thats ok, only 12 months late..

Well progress has halted.. Due to some idiot not tightening an idler pully enough the cam belt slipped and the zetec had a little accident [B)][8~2]

I've got the head off, doesn't look too bad. Looks like the exhaust valves made contact with the pistons, but the inlet valves and the pistons themselves look ok. Fingers crossed.

Annoying thing is I heard a rattle and was looking for the cause, the rattle was the pulley coming loose and it let go while I was investigating. I thought the noise was the alternator, as I'd just changed it.. Luckily it meant the contact happened at low rpm.

Ah well, will order up the new parts this week and hopefully be going again in a few weeks!

Hi Andrew, just read the threads on your project, great work. I am about to do the same with my ford anglia. Interested to know as a lot of people are doing these conversions if you would be interested in supplying the parts needed ie: water rail, sump etc. cheers Rob

Maybe ready, but probably not. Burton Power's 2-4 day wait for parts is now up to 4 weeks, called them yesterday and they said 2 weeks more before they arrive in the uk, then shipping to Aus.

ulsterman the sump I made was based on a sierra 1.8L one, they are near impossible to get in Aus. The water rail took ages to make, unless I had all the parts laser cut but cost would likely blow out.. So the short answer is no, I have no plans to make either.

It was going really well.. The car was driving and the engine felt really good.. More power than the old pinto..

But I'm still waiting for new exhaust valves from Burtons after I bent the old ones (totally my fault).
