Lately I realised I haven't contributed much to the forum.

Unfortunately, it seems to be the way with forums in general, so in the interests of some new material, thought I'd better post some of what I've been up to of late.

At the moment the 2.3XE has been put on hold whilst other things are happening.  Its all sitting ready to go, just needs some slight machining and assembly.

In the mean time I've been building up a hilux diff for a mates celica rally car and giving the MK2 engine a freshen up.

The motor is a 2lt pinto, standard bore, high klm low comp (8.2) ex TC cortina engine.

I've given it a hone, fitted new rings and bearings and a general going over.

I've swapped out the standard head for a big valve ported head. The head is actually an ex Holbay head, which previously ran the water port conversion and roller rockers. I fitted a very mild, higher lift camshaft.

Ill be putting the 32/36 weber back on for now with the long, long term goal of re-fitting the sierra injection and possibly adding some boost to wake up the low comp engine.

The car is a cruiser though, so not after big power.

That's one of the cleanest, straightest MK2's I've seen in a while- well done! Len

Thanks Len. Yes it's pretty clean and straight with the exception of the roof. Looks ok from a distance. Unfortunately many years ago, I stored some trims etc on the roof so there's a few dents. One day I'll get around to getting them sorted and repaint it. Not worried in the mean time, as it all ads to the character. After all, the paint is a shed job from when I was an enthusiastic 19 old and stripped every last bit and bolt from the car, that's over 20 yrs ago now...🤣

Nice sleeper Shaun.
(And good to have some fresh cars to follow instead of the regular clowns, myself included obviously. :0)

Well it's back in and running.

Was a little worried with the initial mount of blue smoke, however I did liberally coat the pistons and bores. Seems to have calmed down however I decent drive should help bed the rings in.

I'll get some more pics up soon.

Tidying up a few extra things why the car is in the shed and up on stands.

Keep looking at Eaton superchargers.....  or I still have the old sc14 from way back when.

Other than shiny looking welch plugs and different coloured plug leads, externally, the engine doesn't look any different.

Supercharger... I've got from a Toyota mr2 I'm not going to use, it has a a/c pulley to switch on or off, but that's best binned and replaced with the smallest pulley available .
Also a friend just removed his supercharger from his pinto, all complete, if your interested I can ask price etc

Sounds like the same one I have sitting on the shelf. Sc14 type. I have the electromagnetic clutch removed and a smaller puller fitted. I ran it under the exhaust manifold and blue through a standard Sierra Injection manifold.

I'll find some pics

Thinking this time going old school to match the car.

M90 modified to run draw through carb?
