thanks deano ............

the wetness of rain is nowhere near to being a problem as the Idiots who
drive 10 times worse than they do in the dry, and then smash into your much loved Classic.
This would result in much sadness and the consequences dont bear thinking about.
I dont think I could "keep it together" if any my Classics was written off due to sheer stupidity.
Hope to see you there !

RSOC Vic will have a stand for all small Fords. If you want to join us just list us on your entry. All cars need to pre-enter, which I think closes tomorrow. See you there.

I tried to organise a road trip from Adelaide with a few mates as we usually go to the Small Ford Show most years but non of them were keen this year. Unsure if my Escort would even make it over and it wouldn't be the same experience travelling over in my XR50.

I entered one year when it was a pretty new event, and I was a young bloke.
The 71Mk1 Capri had just undergone a full resto, well as much as you can on a basic wage, but it included a respray, engine rebuild, headlining, sunroof (!) and new wheels plus a bit of chrome for bling..

I thought it looked pretty schmik at the time. Most of how it looks today is from that resto.
Anyhow, for laughs and since I was at the AFD anyhow, it got entered for judging.
I thought i'd be in with a chance, since it was hot out of the garage, basically only finished weeks before.

Unfortunately the 'new' Capri roadster had just been launched, and a factory std red version straight off the showroom, was judged together with all of the Capris.

It won of course, and since then for some reason the AFD hasnt fazed me much, despite being on in my backyard.
I should just go and buy a $3 trophy and get over it.... :)

Yes the AFD lost me many years ago, one year it was whoever had the wildest drivetrain won, another year it was whoever had the most original unrestored car won, every year every car that is not an XY GT or a Mustang is pushed aside and scattered around the field, for me the crunch came when we were directed to a rear car park and not judged nor refunded when we protested
